  • The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 12 mins)
    • By Wes Moore, Tavis Smiley (afterword)
    • Narrated By Wes Moore

Two kids with the same name lived in the same decaying city. One went on to be a Rhodes Scholar, decorated combat veteran, White House Fellow, and business leader. The other is serving a life sentence in prison. Here is the story of two boys and the journey of a generation.

Jennifer says: "Biography and Autobiography in One"
    "Enlightening! Great book!"
What made the experience of listening to The Other Wes Moore the most enjoyable?

Opening my eyes to the deep quagmire of issues that poor young black men face. It was very honest and poignant.

What did you like best about this story?

Seeing how both boys struggled and how their support structure made all the difference.

  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: The Millennium Trilogy, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 19 mins)
    • By Stieg Larsson
    • Narrated By Simon Vance
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Why we think it’s a great listen: How do you one-up a book that’s already a global literary phenomenon? Hire Simon Vance to (flawlessly) interpret the loves, lives, and murders of Sweden’s cold and secret-filled world. A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue. It's about the disappearance 40 years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden.

Pamela Murphy says: "COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN"
    "A Riveting Tale!"
Where does The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book starts S-L-O-W but once it picks up it is a real page turner! The characters are Multi-layered and well developed. Great story!

    Which scene was your favorite?

The scene where Lisbeth tortures the man that raped her. Difficult scene but very bold and creative!

  • 32 Candles: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 13 mins)
    • By Ernessa T. Carter
    • Narrated By Adenrele Ojo

Davie—an ugly duckling growing up in small-town Mississippi—is positive her life couldn’t be any worse. She has the meanest mother in the South, possibly the world, and on top of that, she’s pretty sure she’s ugly. Just when she’s resigned herself to her fate, she sees a movie that will change her life—Sixteen Candles. But in her case, life doesn’t imitate art.

    Stephanie says: "WOW."
    "Unique coming of age book!"
Would you consider the audio edition of 32 Candles to be better than the print version?

I loved this book! It was one that I was really sad when it was over because I felt like I knew the characters. I was reminded that you never know where people come from or what they've had to face.

  • White Lines

    • UNABRIDGED (19 hrs and 24 mins)
    • By Tracy Brown
    • Narrated By Allyson Johnson

Jada left home at the age of sixteen, running from her own demons and the horrors of physical abuse inflicted by her mother’s boyfriend. She partied hard, and life seemed good when she was with Born, the neighborhood kingpin whose name was synonymous with money, power, and respect. But all his love couldn’t save her from a crack addiction. Jada goes from crack addict and prostitute to survivor and back again before she finds the strength to live for herself and come out on top.

Dornetta says: "A very compelling story"
    "Painfully Honest!"
What did you love best about White Lines?

This book gives great insight into the issues of drugs in the black community. The author did not romanticize the issue.
