Douglas Adams excellent reading, his lively, fun interpretation of this bizarre and intriguing story.
When Kate Schechter is walking toward her apartment and each streetlight goes out as she proceeds along the road... the time when Thor wakes up glued to the floor of a warehouse... Dirk waking up in the morning.
Dirk Gently is the best, but Kate runs a close second.
I really really wish that Audible would carry the rest of the Douglas Adams readings of his own work: the other Dirk Gently book, the entirely of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (five books) and Last Chance to See. I would buy them all, as would many of my friends. The CDs are getting hard to find.
Albert Campion is always the outstanding character, Lugg an amusing follow-up.
His vocal variety is extraordinary, and he really gets Campion and Lugg across with their unique personalities.
This is a light murder mystery, so really it's just fun.
I hope Mr. Franks does many more of Margery Allingham's books. I have already purchased all of the ones he has done so far. Allingham is one of the great, imaginative writers of all time.
Benedict Cumberbatch's excellent reading, John Taylor's great continuation of the Holmes series -- it sounded very much like Conan Doyle.
Yes -- very involving, and good suspense.
His delineation of the various characters is extraordinary -- you can always tell who is talking. He also does a great Holmes -- even if he wasn't already playing Holmes on television I would say that. His voice is perfect for audio books.
Yes, and I did.
I know that Cumberbatch's career is taking off into films, etc., but I hope he does more audio books! It would be great if he would do a version of the original Holmes canon.
