Unconfirmed accounts of a group of Araluen warriors - tales of adventure, battle, and triumph over evil - have spread for centuries throughout the known world. Most notable is a clan shrouded in mystery, phantom warriors known as the Rangers. Two names pass the lips of every storyteller: Halt, and his apprentice, Will. They and their comrades in arms are said to have traveled throughout the kingdom and beyond its borders, protecting those who needed it most.

John Flanagan has brought this story line to a close by chapters explaining the loose ends from the series - Ranger's Apprentice. It isn't enough since they are still sorely missed in my life but now I know what happened to them.

They were the young ones, the bright ones, the ones with the dreams. From the Nazi-prowled wastes of North Africa to the bloody corridors of Europe, they honorably answered the call. War - it was their duty, their job, their life. They marched off as boys and they came back - those who made it - as soldiers and professionals forged in the heat of battle....

History has all but forgotten.... In the spring of 1708, an invading Jacobite fleet of French and Scottish soldiers nearly succeeded in landing the exiled James Stewart in Scotland to reclaim his crown. Now, Carrie McClelland hopes to turn that story into her next best-selling novel. Settling herself in the shadow of Slains Castle, she creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors and starts to write. But then she discovers her novel is more fact than fiction....

Very early one morning, a Minnesota political fixer answers his doorbell. The next thing he knows, he’s waking up on the floor of a moving car, lying on a plastic sheet, his body wet with blood. When the car stops, a voice says, "Hey, I think he’s breathing." And another voice says, "Yeah? Give me the bat." And that’s the last thing he knows. Davenport is investigating another case when the trail leads to the man’s disappearance, then - very troublingly - to the Minneapolis police department, then - most troublingly of all - to a woman who could give Machiavelli lessons.

John Norton says: "Still my favorite combo of author and reader"

What did you love best about Silken Prey?

I always like the characters that Lucas Davenport has for friends. This story is entangled as usual but the second story with Kidd has drawing power of its own. The drama is written in such a way that you really want to find out how Lucas untangles the situation.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lucas is always a favorite because he is highly intelligent and driven to succeed. His family and friends make him a caring and loving person even in his pursuit of the evil of others.

What does Richard Ferrone bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Richard Ferrone needs to learn to pronounce the names of cities and towns in Minnesota. He takes away from the story by mispronouncing these names for those of us who know how to say them.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, it didn't although I did worry about the outcome for some of the characters as they made bad decisions.

It is 1191. During excavation work at Glastonbury Abbey, an ancient cross is discovered buried several feet below the ground. Inscribed on it are the words: Here lies buried the renowned King Arthur. Beneath the cross are skeletal remains. Could this really be the legendary King Arthur? As the secret of the bones' hiding place is passed from generation to generation, those entrusted to safeguard the king's remains must withstand treachery, blackmail and murder in order to keep the legend intact

Would you try another book from The Medieval Murderers and/or Paul Matthews?

I don't know. I might try another and if it is as dull, I would not buy another. I like the Medieval Murder concept but not this particular book.

Would you recommend King Arthur's Bones to your friends? Why or why not?

No. I didn't even finish it because I got bored. The first part was fine but it went on much too long!!

Have you listened to any of Paul Matthews’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't think that I have ever heard Paul Matthews before. He read it well enough to take another book by him.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

It would depend on whether the director made it more exciting in the trailer. As I wrote, I like the concept of murder in Medieval Times so I might. Sometimes, directors make a better movie than the book.

When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, Mrs. Quine just thinks her husband has gone off by himself for a few days - as he has done before - and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home. But as Strike investigates, it becomes clear that there is more to Quine's disappearance than his wife realizes. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows.

Where does The Silkworm rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is well-done. The characters are well-developed and the reader differentiates between the characters well enough to keep the listeners mind on the story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Silkworm?

There is a strong desire to find out who committed the murder that is so horrendous. The reader also cares about the main characters' relationship and where it is going. The author has left the listener wanting the next book.

What does Robert Glenister bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    Nothing in particular.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Who could commit such as ghastly murder?

Where does Devil-May-Care rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The story is somewhat predictable but it is still a good listen. The reader doesn't use much voice distinction so at times it causes confusion about the speaker. It is supposed to be more thrilling than I have felt listening.

What did you like best about this story?

The premise is good if predictable. The characters are well developed.

What about Grace Conlin’s performance did you like?

She pronounces words well and reads a sentence with proper emphasis. There is no question about what the author wrote.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I would not make it into a film.
