Unconfirmed accounts of a group of Araluen warriors - tales of adventure, battle, and triumph over evil - have spread for centuries throughout the known world. Most notable is a clan shrouded in mystery, phantom warriors known as the Rangers. Two names pass the lips of every storyteller: Halt, and his apprentice, Will. They and their comrades in arms are said to have traveled throughout the kingdom and beyond its borders, protecting those who needed it most.

John Flanagan has brought this story line to a close by chapters explaining the loose ends from the series - Ranger's Apprentice. It isn't enough since they are still sorely missed in my life but now I know what happened to them.

A cop has been shot - cold-bloodedly gunned down while trying to prevent a holdup. Regulations say the investigation is to be handled like any other homicide. But when a cop is killed in the line of duty, it is different. And the brotherhood in blue will stop at nothing to bring the killer to justice.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book. The story is complete and character studies are set for the beginning of the series.

What other book might you compare Men in Blue to and why?

I don't know. It is a cop series like Sandford's Prey series but doesn't have just one important character.

Which character – as performed by Michael Russotto – was your favorite?

Peter Wahl. He is well-defined and Michael Russotto read his part as I see Peter in my mind.

    Any additional comments?

This whole series is well started in this book. One becomes involved with the characters like co-workers or family. It is imperative to find out what happens to them next!

He's a self-described beach bum who won his houseboat in a card game. He's also a knight errant who's wary of credit cards, retirement benefits, political parties, mortgages, and television. He only works when his cash runs out, and his rule is simple: he'll help you find whatever was taken from you, as long as he can keep half.

Would you listen to The Deep Blue Good-By again? Why?

I read all of John D. MacDonald's Travis McGee books years ago. They were great then and great to listen to as well.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

This is a low-key mystery series. Trav is a reluctant worker but has fabulous thinking skills for solving people's problems.

Have you listened to any of Robert Petkoff’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    I don't know

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes but I had to break it up. It was better when I could put longer listening periods to it.

It is 1910, the age of flying machines is still in its infancy, and newspaper publisher Preston Whiteway is offering $50,000 for the first daring aviator to cross America in less than 50 days. He is even sponsoring one of the prime candidates - an intrepid woman named Josephine Frost - and that's where Bell, chief investigator for the Van Dorn Detective Agency, comes in.

This whole series of books is very good! Like Clive Cussler's hero Dirk Pitt, Isaac Bell is a little bigger and stronger than reality made possible but the tenaciousness draws the reader further and further into the story!!

The spunky Victorian Egyptologist Amelia Peabody Emerson has returned to the exotic Nile valley. Parasol aloft and hot on the trail of an unexplored tomb, she must outwit a shadowy evildoer, a questionable antiquities dealer, and her loquacious son, Ramses.

Although I truly enjoy the books in the Amelia Peabody series, I am not happy with Barbara Rosenblat's narrative. She tries to change the tone of voice for each character but she is not very good at it. Her normal voice I find rather unpleasant but her male voices are VERY poor.

Sherlock Holmes is the greatest detective in literary history. For the first time since the death of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a new Holmes story has been sanctioned by his estate, whetting the appetites of fans everywhere. Information about the book will be revealed as deliberately as Holmes himself would unravel a knotty case, but bestselling novelist and Holmes expert Anthony Horowitz is sure to bring a compelling, atmospheric story to life.

Anthony Horowitz has written a very good story with the depth of Arthur Conan Doyle. Having listened to it once, I will have to listen again to unravel the plot. Derek Jacobi's voice as Dr. Watson was NOT distracting. There were often times that I forgot it was the famous actor reading the book to me. I highly recommend this book for the Sherlock Holmes fans out there!!

Paradise, Massachusetts, is preparing for the summer tourist season when a string of car thefts disturbs what is usually a quiet time in town. In a sudden escalation of violence, the thefts become murder, and chief of police Jesse Stone finds himself facing one of the toughest cases of his career. Pressure from the town politicians only increases when another crime wave puts residents on edge. Jesse confronts a personal dilemma as well: a burgeoning relationship with a young PR executive, whose plans to turn Paradise into a summertime concert destination may have her running afoul of the law.

Although Robert B. Parker has died, Jesse Stone lives on very well. Mr. Brandman has taken up the style and mystery quality to a great extent. I didn't notice much difference in the writing and still felt highly entertained. James Naughton continues as the narrator which helps to extend the novel as one of Parker's stories.

Howard Carter has just made one of the great discoveries of all time, the unveiling of Tutankhamun's tomb. At the same time, Egyptologist Ralph Trilipush finds himself in a slightly less spectacular position. He has staked everything on a scrap of hieroglyphic pornography. Halfway around the world, an Australian detective sets off on a globetrotting quest to find a murderer. Or two. Or three. These events, seemingly unrelated, are about to collide in a spectacular yet utterly unpredictable fashion.
