"mundane and uninspired"
The narration was very bland and flat. The information was very pedestrian. It was very simplistic with no real insights that were helpful to me or anyone who has read anything like this before or attended a course. I've listened to about twenty books this year including 2 other personal interaction books right before this one. This book was the least interesting of all, but luckily very short. I advise against it unless this is your very first experience with conflict management books.
"A true must read."
It detailed how to take a company from good to great and but also made me think about how the same principles apply to volunteer organizations and even family life. It was emotionally rewarding to discover the principles involved were not selfishness, stealing, lying or other distasteful qualities.
Getting the right people on and off the bus and into the right seats reminded me of our scout troop and the committee members who live and work with this attitude.
The personal emotion he brought to it makes it almost seem like the "read" would have been sterile and missing of the nuances involved.
"uninteresting"
I listened to this after seeing the play. The names are the same but the story is very different. It focused mainly on the witch but her character started off bland and degenerated into old and morose. She was not interesting nor sympathetic. Neither was there any character development. My wife read the book and felt the same. The story did not build any suspense and it just seemed to end, without any purpose or design. The book just seemed empty and left us both wondering why we had invested the time. The narration was good.
"The definative living dead/zombie story"
The performance was the best of any audio book I have ever listen too with the different celebrity performers. It gave a very nuts and bolts description of what it would really be like if this actually happened. It was told in sections from individual perspectives, this making it feel personable. If you like walking dead/zombie stories at all, you must read this one.
The little girl telling of how her parents tried to survive and keep her alive this post apocalyptic world, hanging on to whatever shred of humanity they can.
The visceral emotion of the narrator.
