"All opera, no action"
Bought the book expecting more typical, or what you expect from a fantasy story, but didn't get it. The narrator is good, no fault there, but the story was just too slow for me. I just couldn't make it through the book. I haven't deleted it, and maybe I will give it another try. If you do buy it, the book is heavily descriptive, but at least for me never seems to take off.
"Pretty cool idea, could be a bit spookier."
I love the story idea, and the back and forth portions of the book. I would have liked it to be a bit more spooky, but it was good read/listen.
"Good Ghost Story"
I liked the story, at times, even in a gym full of people, the hairs on the back of my neck would stand on end, and I would get goosebumps. We need more!! I wanted more ghost in this one too, but the history of the area was great. The narrator did a good job with the story.
"Great Authors, Great Story"
I love the series, tried it for the first time in audible format and enjoyed it. Sanderson was a great choice to keep the story going. I miss Jordan and the thought that we wont get more of him really makes me sad, but thank you Brandon Sanderson and the Jordan family for letting the work continue. Great Job!
"Love Sanderson"
I love his stories, but had a hard time listening to Mistborn. I actually have purchased the other books in "book" format and found them more enjoyable. Not sure why this is so. If you like fantasy, its a solid book.
"Where does Neal come up with these ideas"
As and avid video gamer, WOW in particular, Stephenson caught me up in his described game in the novel. I wish I could play the game he describes. It surprisingly turns into an international thriller with the game having some real world impact. I wish the game could have been more central to the story, but I really enjoyed it!
"Good book, good listen"
Read the book years ago, and I enjoyed listening to it this time. The narrator does a good job switching between the characters, and keeping them distinct. McCammon as usual, is an excellent writer.
"Dark Fantasy"
I have read the other books (and loved them), but this was the first audiobook of the series that I tried. Unfortunately I had voices for some of the characters in my head all ready from the previous books, and the narrators choices just didn't match. Abercrombie uses a lot of characters and it can be a little confusing at first until you can sort out who is who as the book is told. I enjoyed the story, and look forward to more, but I will most likely stay with the printed books.
"Good Fantasy Read"
Nice plot, with good characters, and I like the new premise of a "warded" man. Has a good history that should create an easily developed back story as the series continues.
"Reynolds as you expect him"
Nice tie in to the other books. Great narrator, with a variety of accents that I enjoyed. A little confusing when some of the "dreams" begin, but you grow used to it. Love the story line, and Reynolds writing. Enjoyable book.
