So engrossing to follow the health issues of Susannah and her ability to get her life back. She had incredible family support and her auto immune disease was so complex and rare that it was almost a fluke that she was diagnosed.

Certainly would recommend this book as it provides you with an understanding of the character of Harry Hole and his various issues. I have read in paperback form volumes 7, 8 & 9 of this series but always wondered why Harry's character was so twisted and flawed. This first book answered many of those questions.

Harry Hole because he certainly has his flaws so it makes him more believable as a character in that he can make mistakes and still succeed in solving crimes

Didn't read the print version, but thoroughly enjoyed the audio edition

I think the abridged version would be a much better listen. The first half of the book was very slow and too much attention to detail. The second half had more action and seemed to hold our attention better.

Like the ending

Too many descriptive words that you can't skim by when reading the book. The reader was very good - enjoyed his voice.

Abridge this book and it could be a best seller!!!
