"Save your money!"
I rely on people's reviews. I guess since there were only two here I can't complain too much but...this book is very boring and just bordering on an unbelievable story line. This is the seventh book in a row that I've purchased from Audible based on customer reviews and I'm about ready to give up and read a biography! I have not been able to suffer through the six others and certainly cannot finish this one.
"Stupid!"
I should have listened to the few negative reviews on this book before wasting my money! I am quitting listening after the first hour or so...can't take any more than that...totally unbelievable story...almost amateurish.
"Save Your Money!"
As usual Richard Ferrone is perfect. I love all of John Sandford's "Prey" books and was excited to find another book by him that I had not listened to. I can't even get past a hour of listening. I quit. This book is bordering of just plain silly! Maybe it gets exciting and starts to make sense further on but I'm way to disappointed and bored to go any further. Going to ask for a refund on this one.
"Shouldn't always use reviews to purchase a book!"
I look at all these reviews and wonder how so many people can have such a different view then myself. The story line is sophomoric with idiotic dialog that just is not like normal conversation, the narrator sounds like a high school kid and after investing time in listening to half the book I can't take any more.
Zero!
No!
Boring voice.
"I must be from a different planet..."
Idiotic story, unbelievably poor narrator...once again I got sucked in to purchasing a book based on other reviews and I'm having a hard time figuring out what book they were listening to. I guess I owe it to myself to continue listening but the narrator is driving me crazy.
This is a 3 "No Stars" book!
"Not a full review..."
...because I have not finished the book yet. I'm simply wondering: what the heck happened to the Richard Ferrone that I've grown to love with all the other Sandford books??? He almost sounds like he's trying to copy Scott Brick's (worst narrator here) constant sarcastic tone of voice. He almost sounds like a different person. But, there's enough of himself in there for me to at least try to finish the book.
"One of the best books I have read? NO!"
Well, I made it to chapter 14! That's it for this grade school level writing. How so many people could give this a great review is just totally baffling to me. The narrator is terrible...I don't know whether he is using his real accent (annoying) or if he's talking with that accent on purpose but it just does not work. He's not as bad as Scott Brick but close. The story is the worst part...slogging along and about as boring as it gets. Maybe I'm wrong and I just didn't invest enough time with it. Maybe I should have waited until the middle chapters but I had to give up. Waste of time. Sorry.
"Another loser!"
This is about the third book in a row that I simply cannot finish. It is very confusing to me how anyone could give this book a good rating. Nothing in this book is even close to being believable. I love Thomas Perry but this story totally sucks! Another wasted $17.
"Can't make it through to the end"
I base my selections a lot on what kind of reviews I read about a book. I read "The Snowman" and thought it was excellent. Then, I read "The Leopard" and it too was excellent. Then I read all the great reviews (except for one reader) about this book and I've been struggling through 22 chapters and still have no idea what the heck this story is about or where it's going. I'm ready to give up! Again, after investing hours on 22 chapters I absolutely have no idea what this book is about.
"Another book RUINED by Scott Brick"
I should have known better but I love Preston and Child. Why did they ever let Scott Brick get a hold of this book? I thought I'd give it a shot even though I could never finish one book narrated by that man. But no...I didn't last more than 15 minutes as that familiar sarcastic way of speaking and making every single sentence sound as if he's delivering a line from a Shakespeare play! That's it for me folks. If I see Brick's name on any book from now on I'll simply pass it by.
