I really debated whether I should purchase this book. I think I've been on disaster overload. But, I thought the book sounded interesting and the author is a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist. So, I used one of my credits and I'm glad I did. This book made me mad, it made me sad, but most of all it made me think. While it is an account of what happened at Memorial Hospital during hurricane Katrina, it raises moral and ethical questions that are further reaching than that moment in time. Frankly, I had to stop listening several times. I just had to walk away.
The narrator did a great job. The Author did not try to sway your opinion, she just told the story in a straight forward manner. I will be thinking about this one for a while.
I was disappointed that this book indicated it was Book 7 of Elder Races but not a previous primary character made an appearance. Dragos was never mentioned. Once I began referring to this book in my mind as Elder Races World I was able to enjoy the book. But I am confused why this book is part of the series, hopefully, the next book will clarify this confusion. The book did end with somewhat of a cliff hanger, ugh!
This is a really good listen. Well worth a credit. I did not see the ending coming. One of the best books I have listened to this year.
I originally purchased and read this trilogy on my Kindle, I bought the other 2 books in this series about Danika and Tristan. I enjoyed the trilogy so much that I purchased books 1 & 2 on Audible and will get book 3 when it comes out. While the book does follow the Twilight/FSOG format, the plot is different and Bianca is more mature than Ana. This book is about a BDSM relationship and it does have a lot of sex. So if the subject matter offends you, this book would not be for you.
I loved the narrator. I did have to turn the volume up because her voice is in a lower register and I seem to have a problem hearing everything she is saying, but that was easily fixed .
This is book is worth a credit if you don't want to go the Whispersync route.
Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi are one of the BEST pairings on Audible. Amanda has perfect comedic timing and delivery .There is no one who can write snark the way Molly Harper does. This team is an automatic buy for me.
I love my visits to Grundy Alaska, and this edition was no exception. Be warned this edition does not contain as much humor as we have become accustomed to from this author and it also deals with a serious social issue. But don't let this hinder your decision to listen everyone gets their just rewards in the end.
Not quite sure what this author and publisher were thinking with this series/novella/not a full book. The first part is approx. 140 pages long, part 2 is 121 pages long and the final installment is 118 pages. As you can see they took one book and cut it into 3 very short segments. This is the reason I have given this such low ratings. There was no reason for this author to do this, she is not an Indie artist, so I must conclude that it was a monetary decision. I would have been happy to pay more for a full book, I will not be purchasing the Audio version of 2 & 3 or the last 239 pages of the book unless they are really inexpensive $4.99 or less. I have switched to the less expensive Kindle version for the last 2/3's of this book
That being said, this book is a lot different than the authors IAD series. I love the IAD and really liked the first 1/3 of this book However,I would recommend that you wait for the final book to be released prior to beginning this series if you do not like cliff hangers. .
This book is considered New Adult/College. Not a teen book but not quite an adult book. The characters are usually 19-26. Generally this category is for 17 and up readers due to the mature theme, language and a little more detailed sex scenes. For me, the NA/C books are a hit or a miss. This book was a miss for me. I didn't hate the book, I just felt like the characters were too immature, I am probably older than the targeted audience for this book The narrator sounded very young but did a great job.I won't be listening to the next 2 books in this trilogy. . .
This is not a stand alone book, it is a Novella from the Elder Races series. I like the series and I love this Narrator. This one is short and sweet. I wouldn't spend one of my credits for this Novella. I purchased mine using Whispersync a good alternative to it being on sale..
Lots of Sex. It even had a good story to go along with the sex The ending was abrupt and I had several questions that did not get answered. The characters were likable. If your considering buying the book, you need to know, the sex scenes are explicit.. This is not your mothers romance book. I did not use a credit to purchase this book, but I did take advantage of the great Whisper synch program offered by Amazon and Audible. .
I hate to see the series end. This is the final book and while it does tie up alot of loose ends it also leaves you with unanswered questions. I would love another book when George and Jack are adults. I guess I can dream on. The writing is what we have come to expect from this writing team, very good. The narration is great. If you are not familar with this series, I would recommend starting with On The Edge.
