I really enjoyed this book. I am a fan of Stephen King, and bought this book based on that (I know, shallow, but it worked this time). I thought the story was very original and very scary, I enjoyed the characters, even the bad ones were very good in that they seemed to me to be true to themselves. I hope this is the beginning of a long line of books from Mr Hill. I will be looking for his work in the future.
I enjoyed the story very much, but the narration is just about the worst I've heard. As much as I hate to say it, I wouldn't recommend the audio version of this book to anyone.
The general telling of the story and her female voices are OK, tho some were over done, but the male and child voices are awful. They sounded like over acted bad cartoon characters. And just because the book says someone is whispering, doesn't mean you really need to whisper, just lower your voice a bit during that part! I think she has talent, but needs lots of work. She would do well to listen to some great narrators and see how they handle character voices.
This is definately a story for adults, and is one of the funniest books I have listened to yet. I could picture each character and the fixes they found themselves in. The narrator was well chosen and added alot to the enjoyment of this book. I hope Audible is able to publish more of Christopher Moore's works, I would love to hear them.
