After reading the short story of “Here there be Monsters”, which is a prequel to this book, I was ready to consume all the steam punk that has been written in this series. I had never read steam punk before and didn’t have a clue what it means. So after looking it up it means in short using sci-fi technology, history, fantasy and combining them in a story. The story is a little confusing the first hour, but it prevailed and made a wonderfully fun adventure.

Orphaned and besieged, Princess Alesandra knew that only hasty marriage to an Englishman could protect her from the turmoil in her own land. To the amusement of her makeshift guardian, Colin, younger brother of the Marquess of Cainewood, the bold raven-haired beauty instantly captivated London society. But when Alesandra was nearly abducted by her unscrupulous countrymen, the fighting instincts that won Colin a knighthood for valor were kindled. Deceiving himself that he wanted only to protect her, Colin swept her into a union meant to be a marriage in name alone...yet Alesandra's tender first kiss and hesitant caress ignited a wildfire in his soul.

I have always loved this series as a teenager and to this day it is still good. If you are looking for a light, regency romance that makes you feel good, this is the series to get. There are good times and some laughs in this book, but I will admit the plot was a bit thin. My favorite of the series is always going to be Lyon's Lady, but all the books are equally good. What to say about the narrator? She could have been good her regular reading voice is pleasant, BUT her accents are atrocious and she cannot pronounce way too many words that really make a difference. The name Colin being the worst mistake on both hers and the editors part, it is not pronounced Colon. I'm not sure why they changed the narrator when the first three books were the same, with this one being different. I usually can ignore the narrator and with this book she was overall good, with only a few cringe worthy parts.

Gena Showalter always gives a story full of action, adventure, romance, sex, friendship and humor. I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't without its flaws. I wasn't always a fan of Thane's. Not that I didn't like him, I just didn't like all the stuff he did even after Elin came into the picture. Like Pain's book from LOU series, Thane's sex life was disturbing. I understand why he was like that, I just don't have to like it. Luckily when he gets together with Elin it wasn't a BDSM session. My other problem with this book is I sometimes couldn't tell when Elin was speaking or having an inner dialog in her head and at times I was amazed she would say certain stuff, then I realized she was only thinking it. This of course could have been fixed it the narrator had altered her voice for her inner self. I have always enjoyed Max Bellmore, he has a sexy voice.

As a healer, he knows her body. But it's her heart he wants. For a thousand years, Gideon has healed his people. And as the oldest surviving male of his race, his wisdom has always been respected without question. But Gideon knows that even he is vulnerable to the powerful, primitive desires that befall his kind during Hallowed moons---and nine years ago that truth was hammered home when he found himself claiming Magdalena, the Demon King's sister, in a wild embrace.

Mostly a slow book with bits of intense parts scattered in between. The vast majority of the book was about whether or not Gideon and Lana could live with each other and their personalities. There was just barely enough events happening that it kept me from going cross eyed. Admittedly I enjoyed Jacob's book better, Gideon's book dragged a little. I'm not sure whether I want to continue with the series or not. This book may be just a world building book and the rest of the series rocks or all of the series is like this in which case this is the end for me. I will probably try one more and hope it is more like Jacob's book than Gideon's. There are a few details that I think is absurd such as using milk as alcohol, every time they had a drink I was rolling my eyes. Xe Sands is not my favorite narrator, she does an okay job. I know many people love her, but for me she is soooo slow when narrating that she tends to lose my interest and unfortunately her accents sound like she has something in her mouth.

When empath Jade Calhoun moves into an apartment above a strip bar on Bourbon Street, she expects life to get interesting. What she doesn't count on is making friends with an exotic dancer, attracting a powerful spirit, and developing feelings for Kane, her sexy landlord. Being an empath has never been easy on Jade's relationships. It's no wonder she keeps her gift a secret. But when the ghost moves from spooking Jade to terrorizing Pyper, the dancer, it's up to Jade to use her unique ability to save her.

The book was just okay. It goes through the motions, but it was kinda forgettable. There just wasn't any pop to the story and I didn't really like the main characters. They were just okay. Plus Jade was such a hypocrite, she was my least favorite character. She thought everybody had to tell her their secrets, but in no way shared hers. She then got all "holier than thou" attitude that almost made me stop listening it was so annoying. I also thought she was super prejudice about what people did for a living, she does eventually get over this. I got this through Whispersync with it being free on Amazon Kindle and only 1.99 on Audible it was worth 2 bucks but I wouldn't spend a credit on it. I won't be reading anymore in this series. Narrator was passable but was a bit tinny sounding.

5 stars. Miss Congeniality by Shelly Laurenston. This is a novella that can be read at any time in the series but I recommend reading it after Wolf with Benefits. Gotta love the bluntness of honesty in this book, it makes for some awkward situations. Irene was funny in her Bitchy "with a capital B" way. This is a case were vinegar and water do mix and makes a HOT combination. This is defiantly a great addition to the Pride series. I missed Charlotte Kane voice from the other book, she adds humor to the series. 4 hours 37 mins.

3 stars. Wicked Ways by Cynthia Eden. It was an okay story, but nothing that makes me want to read more by this author. It drives me nuts when a women who has no experience thinks she can defeat the bad guys if she puts herself in the way. I don't get it when authors try to make women smart by giving the characters big degrees but have them do some of the stupidest things. 3 hours 52 mins.

Nick Toren was passable, his voice was deep and sexy, it just didn't have much inflection in it

The cover is awesome which goes to prove don't judge a book by its cover. The counting of everything is annoying. The heroine counts her toes, her feelings, etc., etc. The writing is mostly flowery prose and very, very repetitive. I know some people like this reminiscence of poetry, but I am not a fan of it. I only made it about two and half hours at which point I gave up. This is just another forgettable story, with unlikable characters and plot lines that have been done before. The story might have gotten better with time, but I have far too many books in my library to waste time on something I'm not fond of. The narrator sounded like a shy little girl not a teenager, I personally didn't like it.

I liked the book okay but I didn't love it. There is lots of action which usually worked, but the Seals where constantly distracted by unimportant things which was distracting. The romance was an instant soul mate attraction. I don't normally care one way or another on how much time it takes but I felt the romance was a little off putting. The one thing that bugged me about this book was that the main characters would start to make out at the most inappropriate of times. Don't get me wrong I usually like make out sessions in books. It was the timing and places that was off. Plus Beth was always going to put her foot down, but as soon as she saw Zane pound his chest it was "ohh me Jane you Tarzan kiss me stupid". I probably won't continue on with this series because I have so many other books to read that may be my next obsession, this one for sure isn't it. The narrator does an okay job, I have listened to her before and I do like her but she is a little on the monotone side. I recommend Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooter series for awesome Seal/Romance stories.

Another funny book to add to the Charlie Davidson's collection. I do love Charlie but sometimes she does the stupidest things. Of course that is part of her charm. She cracks me up with her antics and sarcasm even while you roll your eyes at her. We get to see all the old gang again which is great, love them all. By now if you have been listening to this series you know you like it so if you haven't gotten it yet, what are you waiting for? Narrator is awesome as usual and has the perfect pitch for all the characters.

This story is continued from the last book, so read in order. I love this series. It is so funny and there is always a crazy adventure happening. I do love a good children's book. Gobber the Belch is my favorite character, with Stoic coming in close. I think it is great that there is a classification of the different types of dragons and a strength category, the only part where I wish I had the actual books to look at. I love the narration it really helps to visualize the story. I will defiantly be listening to all of the books in this series, maybe a couple times.

LAPD cop Scott James is not doing so well, not since a shocking nighttime assault by unidentified men killed his partner, Stephanie, nearly killed him, and left him enraged, ashamed, and ready to explode. He is unfit for duty - until he meets his new partner. Maggie is not doing so well, either. The German shepherd survived three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan sniffing explosives before she lost her handler to an IED and sniper attack, and her PTSD is as bad as Scott’s. This story had me in tears within the first few minutes, but not to worry the story is not that sad. Great character build up, the friendship that grows between Scott and Maggie is heartwarming. I loved Maggie. I liked how the book is partly from Maggie's point of view. I have two dogs and in the spirit of this book I let them walk me one day instead of me walking them. We didn't get far, mostly circles. Of course my dogs are not trained to do anything but eat and poop. Although the mystery was good, the parts I was mostly into was the nature of the dog and her training. Narrator does an excellent job.
