The story was okay, defiantly a teenage story, somewhat predictable and long. I sometimes will read teenage stories, but this one is more for those in that age group or the Twilight freaks. The romance was lacking and it bugs me when adults try to hide things. I think communication is half the battle with kids. The one thing that annoyed me was the sound of Ethan's dreams at the beginning of the story, the first time I heard it I thought the audio was messed up and that I would have to complain to Audible and get my money back. After I figured it out, it just annoyed me. I will admit that I'm not a big fan on being in the dreams as the characters have them. Whenever the narrator would play his friend Linc , I kept thinking he sounded like Dale from King of the Hill. The narrator did a good job although for about 15 minutes the narrator gets changed to some woman. I only rated the narrator three stars because I think they tried to overdo the recording by adding songs, noises and changing the narrator when the story was almost finished. I had to listen to something in between because this book seemed to take forever to get through, even if I have listen to longer stories. The last section of the book did pick up speed in action so it wasn't too bad, but overall a little slow. Not sure if I will continue or not, maybe if there is a sale on the remaining books in the series, maybe.
Admittedly I'm just not into poetry, but it was free so I thought what the heck. I know I'm so refined, not. Now I can see if you like this type of writing this would really work for you, classic poems told by a narrator that hits the right peaks. As for me it passed the time, but I didn't see any big revelation. Thanks Audible for the freebie.
I like how Cal thinks, he is devious and sarcastic, makes me laugh. While this book has funny parts the main emphasis is showing how Cal managed to have his life trashed so much that he became a D list supervillain. This book leaves you right where the Confessions of a D list Supervillain starts off. I had read Confessions quite some time ago and after listening to this book I went ahead and listened to it again. It was just as fun the second time around. If you’re a fan of the internet show of Dr. Horrible's Sing Along, you will like this. Narrator is perfect for the character Cal, shows his dry sense of humor.
I like children's book, especially if it is done correctly. This started off good with a lot of world building, but nothing that really caught my attention. The longer I listened to it, the more I started to enjoy it. The second half was fun and adventurous. I laugh when they were negotiating with the Troll. Admittedly there was a few parts to the book that annoyed me a bit, such as Seth always disobey, it was so bad that you couldn't believe a word he said. I did like that he was willing to try everything whereas Kendra as scared of her own shadow. I will probably read the remaining books in the series, but I might wait for a sale. I recommend The Spiderwick Chronicles if you like this book. Narrator was okay, although he was mostly easy to listen to, his voice was a bit to whispery and childlike.
Another hit for the Iron Seas series. As per the series there is lots of adventure, fantasy, and romance. Ariq and Zenobia make for a steamy couple. I love the steampunk aspect of this series, it is quite imaginative. I went back and reread the other four books in this series because it had been a while since I read them and I was glad I did. The first three books were by a different narrator than the last two. While I didn't mind Alison Larkin as the narrator, I did think that Faye Adele did a better job. Mind you that I don't usually get to annoyed by the narrator as long as the author rocks. I'm hoping there will be more to this series. Start with the prequel Here There Be Monsters if you are interested in this series.
I liked this book better than the first book. I even like the narrator and her quirky accents. Bones and Cat have an electric relationship, they are perfect for each other. Cat has really come into her own since the last book. The way the author wrote this book it almost seemed like this was the first book. There is plenty of action and I like the new friends that Cat acquired. Jeanniene Frost really has a way of creating awkward situations and then finding ways to smooth it out when I thought it might be impossible. She often goes into directions with the story that I don't particular like and I wonder if she will be able to write her way out and be able to make me like it. Amazingly she somehow does. I will be continuing onto the next book soon.
Another hit from Kresley Cole. Yes there is a triangle in this book, but in my opinion why does she have to choose. I certainly wouldn't want to, both Arik and Jack are something special and I wouldn't want to give up either one. I love the tarot card aspect of this series, I secretly think that Jack is the hidden card, and have my suspicions as to which one he is. To me Jack has aspects of John Conner from Terminator. This book went by so fast, that's usually a good sign of a great book. I recommended this series to many of my friends, I needed someone to talk to about it, badly. I can't wait until the next book comes out, I will defiantly snatch it up as soon as it comes out and anything else Kresley Cole comes up with. Narrator does a great job.
While I enjoyed some parts of the book, others left me rolling my eyes and wonder should I finish the book. The parts I liked was the action, some of the characters and I liked where the plot was leading to. What annoyed me was the sex, it seemed like half the book. Don't get me wrong I usually like that part but it basically over ruled cognitive thinking. Security was overlooked because sex was too important. I didn't like the pack either. I liked some individual characters but as a whole I was not impressed. The book was good enough that I would read the next book if it was on a really good sale, but if I have to pay full price, this is where I stop. There is the beginning of Vampire Mine at the end of this book. Narrator was good for the most part, but I didn't like the voice she used for Mary.
I have always enjoyed Julie Garwood's Highlander books. I read them as a teenager and was in love with them. When this one went on sale I picked it up and reread it. I enjoyed the story again and it brought back memories when I read it the first time. My favorite will always be The Bride with Alex and Jamie. I like how in each book the heroines always have some quirky characteristic that left the hero shaking his head with disbelief. Overall a fun highland romance. Narrator does a good job.
Levana was always a psychopath/narcissists even as a teenager. She only gets crazier and more destructive the older she gets. This book is like a train wreck, you can't help but look to see what else Levana will do. Her sister Chandler is just as bad, are the parents to blame or were they just bad seeds to begin with. Marissa Meyer really keeps to the details and this book does give us an insight to what a horrible person Levana is. I really feel for Evert. I didn't read the three chapters for Winter only because I hate reading the beginning of a story and not be able to finish it. I will wait until it comes out in November, which makes this book only 5 hrs and 32 mins. This series is an amazing version of fractured fairytales, I love them. This book only wets the appetite for the next book. Series should be read in order. Narrator does an excellent job.
This book starts right were the last book left off. I was so engrossed in the story I forgot to take my breaks at work, just continued to work and listen. In this book we get to find out more about Arik/Death and we discover there is so much more of him to like. Usually I'm not a fan of triangles but I like both of this men soooo much, I will take a sandwich please. So hard to pick which one I like better Jack or Arik. The world that Kresley Cole has created is amazing and so vivid to me, I want this to become a TV series. The use of Tarot cards are ingenious. I finally found another series that I'm super excited about, my only regret is that there is only three books out and that Kresley Cole doesn't write faster. Narrator does an excellent job and I am glad that only one was used in this book.
