Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

    Story

The story was okay, defiantly a teenage story, somewhat predictable and long. I sometimes will read teenage stories, but this one is more for those in that age group or the Twilight freaks. The romance was lacking and it bugs me when adults try to hide things. I think communication is half the battle with kids. The one thing that annoyed me was the sound of Ethan's dreams at the beginning of the story, the first time I heard it I thought the audio was messed up and that I would have to complain to Audible and get my money back. After I figured it out, it just annoyed me. I will admit that I'm not a big fan on being in the dreams as the characters have them. Whenever the narrator would play his friend Linc , I kept thinking he sounded like Dale from King of the Hill. The narrator did a good job although for about 15 minutes the narrator gets changed to some woman. I only rated the narrator three stars because I think they tried to overdo the recording by adding songs, noises and changing the narrator when the story was almost finished. I had to listen to something in between because this book seemed to take forever to get through, even if I have listen to longer stories. The last section of the book did pick up speed in action so it wasn't too bad, but overall a little slow. Not sure if I will continue or not, maybe if there is a sale on the remaining books in the series, maybe.

R is a young man with an existential crisis—he is a zombie. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse, but he has dreams. His ability to connect with the outside world is limited to a few grunted syllables, but his inner life is deep, full of wonder and longing. After experiencing a teenage boy’s memories while consuming his brain, R makes an unexpected choice that begins a tense, awkward, and strangely sweet relationship with the victim’s human girlfriend, Julie.

The concept of the story being from a zombie point of view was new and original. I bought this on sale and thought it would be interesting and then I watched the movie, which was funny. So I figured that if I like the movie the book has got to be better. The characters seem to be older in the book than the movie, not teenagers. It had some odd parts in the book that weren't that appealing to me. The book has its moments but I think I enjoyed the movie better, R just has more charm in the movie. I know not to judge a book by the movie, but I didn't have a huge desire to finish this book quickly and in fact listened to a few books in between. I am not a huge zombie fan so I may be a little bias with this genre. Overall not a bad book I would rate it more 3.5.

I have had this in my library for over a year, only because I try not to have too many series going at one time. But I'm super glad I got the book and even happier that I read it. It was a fast paced book with characters you like. The world is vivid and unusual. I will defiantly be getting the series as long as they have the same feel to it as this book. I have already purchased the next book. It does have some frustrating sex in the story, I was starting to feel bad for our heroine. I like how nobody's side is the right side and the world is grey, not black and white when it comes to good and evil. I'm always up for a bad boy turned good. The narrator was good, but I was so engrossed in the story I hardly notice her. In my opinion, that makes a good narrator. I hope the rest have decent narrators because I notice they are all read by different narrators. Recommend this for all of the Lord of the Underworld fans out there by Gena Showalter.

The hardheaded Armstrong brothers are determined to rebuild their tornado-ravaged hometown in the Georgia mountains. They've got the means, they've got the manpower...what they need are women! So they place an ad in a northern newspaper and wait for the ladies to answer their call. Porter, the youngest Armstrong, is all for importing women. Still, he's so blown away by the sheer numbers, he falls off the water tower. Luckily, there's a doctor among the newcomers - sweet and sexy Dr. Nikki Salinger.

This is a cute light hearted story. The hero was a little shallow but he eventually grows on you. There wasn't a lot of substance to it, but if you need an easy getaway this one would be good. Although it referred to being in the south there was a lack of southern culture there. I bought it on sale and will buy the others if they go on sale. Narration was okay, but she didn't have any kind of accent for the southern folks.

Now, in the eagerly awaited 12th book in the series, Nalini Singh finally reveals the answer to the biggest Psy-Changeling mystery - an answer so surprising we wouldn't dare spoil it. A little slow to start up, but it picks up after a while. This book is about Kaleb Krychek and Sahara from the Nightstar clan, it drove me nuts that it didn't tell in the summary. I missed the changelings in this story. It refers to them but they didn't show up till almost half way through. As usual this book delivers just like the others. This wasn't my favorite in the series but it was far from the worst and a lot of loose ends are cleared up nicely. The Psy-Changling series is an automatic download for me, although I am not a fan of the Angel series. Do not start out with this one if you are a new comer, these books need to be read in order.

Dark fantasy goes hardboiled in Book II of the hard-hitting Grimnoir Chronicles by the New York Times best-selling creator of Monster Hunter International. The Grimnoir Society’s mission is to protect people with magic, and they’ve done so—successfully and in secret—since the mysterious arrival of the Power in the 1850s, but when a magical assassin makes an attempt on the life of President Franklin Roosevelt, the crime is pinned on the Grimnoir.

Even better than the first. Right from the start there is intrigue, action, and great characters without having to learn everything all over again. I recommend Larry Correia to all my friends and family. Larry always leaves me feeling like I have been on a roller coaster, wind in my hair and a foolish grin on my face. He is an automatic download for me. Narration is really good, my only complaint is that even though some of the characters are supposed to sound like bumpkins he will sometimes sound that way for the wrong people. I have become a fan of steampunk and I would say this book has some of the qualities of one. Larry is defiantly an author I will reread.

    Story

It was okay, I almost didn't finish it and after listening the story leaves you hanging. The actual story had good premises, it wasn't boring and it picks up at the end. What I hated was it had very bad character development, this was a turn off for me. The men were all abusive and had a built in ability to roofie women into having sex with them and make them forget what happened, which was not sexy. The main character was a jerk, he intentionally took Myst to breed with him knowing it would kill her, but at the same time didn't want the relationship to get personal. Well I think that is pretty personal for the person who is having the baby and expected to die. And all he could think about was himself not about her at all. He started to feel bad later, what a peach. He did get more tolerable towards the end. Myst drove me crazy because she was scared of him because he was bulling her but thought he did nice things for her, what I haven't figured out yet. What is wrong with women who let themselves get sucked into this kind of situation without sticking up for themselves. Although some culture colloquialisms are good the author went overboard with hers and it distracts from the story. I happened to buy the second installment on my kindle for only $1, so I think I will read it instead of listening to it, but I did not like Rikar at all in this story, so maybe it is a buck down the tube. Otherwise I would probably have passed on the next book. Narrator was mediocre at best. Despite this review I love shifter stories I recommend Thea Harrison, Suzanne Wright, Charlaine Harrison, Nalini Signh and Sherrilyn Kenyon.

This is another hit although the last 5 minutes at the ending was weird and I didn't like it. I love Sherrilyn Kenyon's stuff and Holter Graham is awesome. Sherrilyn truly has a way of writing that makes you want to be a better person. Nick is such a wonderful character, all of her characters are. Recommended to read in order after the Dark/Dream Hunter books which I love. The world Sherrilyn creates is so vivid and exciting, the stories pull me right in. There was some conflicting back stories from this book and the rest of her stories, but that does not deter from the enjoyment it gives. There were a couple of recording/editing issues with the sentence being cut off and repeat of some phrases although it wasn't bad.

This was a free story that Audible gave out a long time ago. I have put it off for some time, but I finally got around to reading it. I know this a prequel and the actual story will start seven years from when this one does, but I was confused. The author does not give us enough information on the races, there personality, what they are like in society, why she was trying to assassinate in the beginning. So many questions that were never explained, perhaps in the next book. Not sure how far I will go in this series. I just didn't connect, which could just be me and this is a prequel, especially since there was lots of positive reviews. Narrator did an okay job.

The Emerald flew across the seas, carrying the pirate Pagan - despised by the ton, whose riches he plundered, and beloved by the poor, whose plight was eased by his gifts. The Marquess of Cainewood vows to hunt down the pirate wretch in revenge for his brother's death. But when Jade, an enchanting vision of rippling red hair and eyes of jewel-green, appears at his door to beg desperately for his protection, the Marquess agrees to keep her safe from the villains who want her dead. Jade is infuriating, exasperating, and gorgeous; Caine is noble, strong-willed, and powerful. No woman has ever befuddled him so, nor so deeply aroused his desire.

Glad to see another one of Julie Garwood's older books on audible and at a good price. Two more in the series to complete, but I'm hopeful we will see them. It is a sweet and silly romance with good characters. I'm a fan of Julie Garwood's older works, unfortunately her newer stuff is missing that special spark that she creates with this series and her highland books. Narrator was okay, sometimes a little on the screechy side.

Running all their daylight errands - from letting in the plumber to picking up some chilled O neg - gives her a look at the not-so-glamorous side of vampire life. Her rules are strict; relationships with vamps are strictly business, not friendship - and certainly not anything else. This one is more like #5 to the Nice Girls series, but with a new person as the main character. Of course it was funny, Molly Harper wrote it. The narration was spot on. It probably can be read separately but I don't recommend it because a lot of the background information would be lost. I will be reading all of the half moon hollow books that Molly Harper can put out.
