"LOVELY Book!"
I thoroughly enjoyed this book - much more than I'd anticipated. At first the narrator didn't "sound" enough like Julia for me, but it quickly didn't matter at all. The story of Julia's life was engaging and I couldn't wait to get moments to listen to more. Highly recommend this book!
"I wanted to like it more..."
Being a Judds fan from way back, I was interested to hear Wynonna's take on growing up with Naomi and in the limelight from such a young age. I loved those parts of the story.
However, she often drifted off into "self-help book" speak and, while it was interesting and educational, I didn't think it flowed very well with the rest of the book.
The narrator was all wrong for her "voice", as well. I really wish Wynonna would have read it herself - or at least had a narrator with an authentic Southern accent.
"Awesome book - lots of twists!"
I rarely listen to or read a book that makes me audibly *gasp*, but Gone Girl did just that. It was a great book and the narration made it even better. Loved the "voices" of both husband & wife. Excellent!
"Didn't think I would like this so much!"
Confession: I have never read a Stephen King novel. That said, I am now just into the 2nd part of 11-22-63 and thoroughly engrossed in this story! So much so that I find myself not wanting to work or sleep so I can hear more (sadly, that's not possible). The narration is awesome, the story is fascinating and makes me wish I were Jake. :)
Part 1 would stand alone as a great book - I can't wait to see what the next 24 hours or so of listening have in store!
"Wow..."
Just finished listening to this book and left with more questions than answers. But enjoyed it immensely. The story of a father's unending dedication to defend the son he loves - I could definitely identify with the desperation not to believe your child capable of evil.
"More crazy characters!"
This book introduces even more "sups" (supernatural beings) to Sookie's life and she gets more wound up in the drama of the vampire world than ever. It was a little hard to keep up with who's who or rather "who's what??" but a great story overall.
"Enjoyed Sookie's travels"
I liked this book in the series since it was set somewhere different. I love the character of Eric and looked forward to his interactions with Sookie throughout the book. Bill who?? ;) Great story and performance.
"Nice, light listen"
Good book with well developed characters. The narration was good. All in all, a good light listen to pass the time, especially if you're a quilter (as I am) and enjoy hearing about other womens "bees" and quilting friendships.
"Hooked!"
I'm late to the Sookie Stackhouse craze, but I am HOOKED! Loved this first book, although Sookie's "voice" is a little grating (as a Southern woman, I hate how most media way overdoes it on the southern accent). But overall, I LOVE this series and will continue listening to all of the books! My guilty pleasure. :)
"Nice series"
I really like this series - part detective story, part psychology, part Christian romance. The only complaint I have at all is the constant use of the phrase "Ho-ly crow". :) Otherwise, I have highly enjoyed the three books in this series and look forward to more Sullivan Crisp stories!
