Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No really! The Canadian setting is lovely but the rest is not enough to recommend the book

What was most disappointing about Charlie David’s story?

Felt like author was adding unnecessary twists to fill in the number of pages required.
As well, although the author may not have intended to show any bias, but to have him point out that one character was of native decent and have that person be the one truly unlikable character in the book, just does not sit well with me at all!

What three words best describe Charlie David’s voice?

light and funny in the beginning - towards the end of the book, most of the voices sounded the same.

Jeff, Evan, and Dan have been living happily together for the past two years. They still have problems, especially between Evan and Dan, but they're mostly able to convert the interpersonal disagreements to sexual tension - and then resolve it - so nobody's complaining. Then Dan's long-lost sister shows up seven months pregnant and on the run from the law, and the situation goes from complicated to overwhelming.

If you could sum up Of Dark and Bright in three words, what would they be?

    Engaging, heart-warming and delicious!

What other book might you compare Of Dark and Bright to and why?

Perhaps the Promises series by Amy Lane

Have you listened to any of Peter B. Brooke’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    This one was better

    Any additional comments?

I wish the smaller works in the series will also be done, they are a great addition. Enjoy

There are two sides to every story. When you're Tim Wyman, sometimes there are three. Tim hoped moving to Texas would mean a new beginning, but he soon finds himself falling into the same tired patterns. Until he meets recklessly brave Benjamin Bentley, who introduces Tim to a world of love, sex, and warmth. Certain that society won't understand what he and Ben have together, Tim struggles to protect their relationship, even if it means twisting the truth. Buried beneath his own deceptions, Tim must claw his way to the surface in the hopes of learning to fly.

Would you consider the audio edition of Something Like Winter to be better than the print version?

NO! both add to each other, I fell in love with the printed version of the series. Listening to Seasons just brings the story back to the forefront.

What did you like best about this story?

We get to know Tim and understand how his story with Ben evolved.

What does Kevin R. Free bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He brings a new dimension to the voice I hear in my head, although I am not the biggest fan of how Tim sounds all the time.

If you could take any character from Something Like Winter out to dinner, who would it be and why?

    Eric!

    Any additional comments?

I just hope that we will not wait too, too long for Autumn and Spring to be available.

Dan thinks about just driving, leaving the whole mess behind. He's got enough money. He could just arrange to get his stuff and his horse shipped to wherever he's going. Taking off is what he used to do when things got to be too much, and it worked pretty well, really.

Where does Dark Horse rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would say that it ranks in the mid- to high among others. The exploration of Dan's life and his relationship with the Evan and Jeff, as well as his grappling with the loss of Justin are poignant, sad and lovely. I'll probably listen to again

What did you like best about this story?

The slow build-up, it is a well written novel which presents an honest effort to show the main characters, especially Dan, trying to deal with life, love and loss. Had it been done faster, it would have weakened the author's effort.

Which character – as performed by Peter B. Brooke – was your favorite?

Jeff (and Dan too of course)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, not in the beginning and it is pretty long, but by the last third, I was very invested in the characters

    Any additional comments?

Narrating female voices might not be the forte of PB Brooke, but do not let that dissuade you from a good story.

Music. Topher Manning rarely thinks about anything else, but his day job as a mechanic doesn't exactly mesh with his rock-star ambitions. Unless he can find a way to unlock all the songs in his head, his band will soon be on the fast track to obscurity. Then the South by Southwest music festival and a broken-down car drop New York critic Stanton Porter into his life. Stanton offers Topher a ticket to the Bruce Springsteen concert, where a hesitant kiss and phantom vibrations from Topher’s cell phone kick off a love story that promises to transcend ordinary possibility.

What did you love best about The Return?

To start, I was not a fan of Boney's other book - The Nothingness of Ben - and I was hoping that this book might prove better and it sure was. The premiss, although far fetched with the amount of characters involved, was very intriguing and heart-warming. I like its odd twists!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Stanton and his road to peace!

    Which scene was your favorite?

    Chris talking to Topher!

    What disappointed you about Tricks?

The narration is terrible, I have not managed to reach chapter 5 yet.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Something by josh Landon

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Taavi Mark?

Jack lefleur, Charlie Belmont or Sean crisden. There are many.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Tricks?

Not sure...trying to continue but it is just not working.

What made the experience of listening to Divide and Conquer the most enjoyable?

I just love these books and reading about Ty and Zane's growing relationship is fabulous!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Hard to pick between the 2, but I do like the stoic Zane

Have you listened to any of Sean Crisden’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, not usually my favourite, but he did very well here and in Fish and Chips

What did you love best about Living Promises?

It felt like it was written for all the characters encountered in the first 2 books

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

because it was too full of other stories, Jeff & Colin got lost & I did not feel a connection to their relationship even though it was well presented.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Paul Morey?

Yes, I usually really like his narration but it fell short in this book. The voices were unconvincing and more so than Book II, I felt that Mr. Morey did not have a good grasp of his characters. For example it made no sense for me at least why the voice "big stupid cop" kept getting younger, while Crick's 17 year-old sister started to sound like a mature man.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Crick and Deacon after the operation!
