"Complicated and Not Good for Listening!"
This is an outstanding book but mainly if you sit and "read" it. The book is a very complicated read but absolutely amazing if you take the time to actually read it. Listening to it, on the other hand, I found to be extremely difficult. While trying to listen, I found myself rewinding and re-listening to parts constantly causing much frustration and confusion. This book is not really meant for listening pleasure unless your IQ is way above average. If you have time to concentrate on your listen, you may be able to get through it. Once I sat down and read the book, I decided to give it another listen and I found the narrator to be amazing and intriguing. After reading the actual book, I had no trouble listening to it. I actually loved hearing it and got more out of it. If you find yourself unable to listen, sit down and give it a read. You'll Love it!
"Excelling Southern Portrayal"
I was born and raised in Mississippi in the 60s. This book struck home for me. I found myself thinking, "Why didn't I write this?" I can remember my mother saying a lot of things these women said and the portrayal of southern history was spot on. We had a maid growing up named Suzy and she reminded me so much of Aibileen. I still think of Suzy to this day and wonder where she is. She was my 2nd mom and I loved her so dearly. When I was a teenager I came home and she was just gone.. I never knew why.
This book is amazingly written and the characters are developed in such a way you feel like you know each and every one personally.
Excellent Read!!
"The KING is BACK!"
Loved this book! The entire book was engaging and kept me listening right to the end. One time I even had to put it down and run out of the room a minute to catch my breath. The characters were developed in such a way, I felt like I knew them. The writing was amazing and I found myself back in the 50s with the constant need to google things he wrote about. If you love historical fiction, you will love this book. Great job King!
"Excellent Story - Major Cliffhanger!"
Yes, it has a great story line and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
What I liked best was how well written and thought out the story line was. The author went to great links to show how mentally ill people can really be. It makes you wonder what really goes on out there in the world.
They both really acted the parts. I feel like I was really listening to Nick and Amy!
No but I found myself getting upset and saying OMG a lot.
I really enjoyed this book. I can see that the author has many more plans for Nick and Amy. The cliffhanger at the end really left me saying "NO DON'T END NOW!!!"
"Excellent Book - Audio Ruined by Valley Girl!"
50 Shades of Grey was a great book but not a good listen. The reader sounded so much like an 80s valley girl it was hard to concentrate on the book itself. I would not rank this one high on my favorites of audiobooks.
Christian Grey is a man that most women wish they'd met when they were single and 21.
This outstanding book was ruined by the reader. Someone with a young voice but more educated sounding would have really made the audiobook live up to it's written word. Anastasia Steele is educated so why is a Valley Girl from the 80s reading this awesome book?
I was very upset by the reader and performance. I read the actual book and wanted to hear the audio book. I was extremely upset at how Anastasia Steele was portrayed.
Read the real book, the audio ruines it.
"Intriguing, exciting and intoxicating!"
The beginning of this story starts out very slow but it's needed to set the groundwork for an amazing and action pack story filled with history, war, romance and time travel. Once you make it through the first few chapters you won't be able to stop listening. The reader has an amazing voice and is able to bring the characters to life in your mind. The writer captures your heart and gives you the feeling that you are there with Claire and Jamie. I loved every minute of this book and you will too!
"Great story!"
Another great romance for SEP! I really enjoyed listening to this one. As will all of SEP's novels, such great romance and excitement! This was one that was very hard to stop listening to. I found myself trying to hide my ipod at work just to get a quick chapter in to see what happened! You won't be sorry with this one!
OUTSTANDING!
"Excellent!"
This is a book that you'll find really hard to put down. The characters are well thought out, the plot is full of life, and the dramatic ending leaves you wanting to know more about the main character, Sugar Beth! The reader does an excellent job of voicing all the characters. I love a book that stays with you for hours or days after you've finished reading it, this is definitely one of those books!
"A great beach book!"
A very simplistic and easy listen that will have you relating with the main character Maz. The author does a fine job of telling about Maz crazy life with her messed up family. These characters are well drawn, intriguing, annoying, and laugh-out-loud funny. They absolutely remind you of someone in your own family. The only issue I found with this audio was the reader. The reader was a little annoying at times, but tolerable!
A great first novel from Sandi Kahn Shelton. I hope there are more to come!
"More like a nightmare!"
I'm a HUGE King fan, and this is not his normal awesome literary work! If you are looking for your first King novel don't chose this one. The Girl Who Love Tom Gordon, The Dark Tower Series, or Bag of Bones are all AWESOME!
I found the plot to be too long, his characterization of the Aliens who pass gas to be really silly, and not to mention it just wasn't scary! I'm still not sure where he was going with this story, it left me puzzled and not entertained in the least. I've read many horror novels and this was more like an author that was "trying" to write like King, but just couldn't do it!
Don't waste your time on this one unless you really get into flatulence!
