Reclusive novelist Aaron Westhaven, a man she's admired - and more - for years, has accepted Olivia Dupree's invitation to speak at a local fundraiser. But the day he's due to arrive, she gets a call summoning her to the bedside of a John Doe whose sole possession is her business card. Can this undeniably compelling man - survivor of an execution-style gunshot wound - really be the novelist the lonely Olivia has grown to think of as a near soul mate?

The narator does not do well with voices. The 2 main characters sound like a mob hit man and Marge Simpson! Narration is an important part of an audiobook and bad narration can destroy an otherwise excellent story...unfortunately I have been finding alot of that from Audible lately.

Murder. Love. Jealousy. And the ultimate betrayal. Now, with Rose on trial for her life and Lissa first in line for the Royal Crown, nothing will ever be the same between them.

The book might have been a little more enjoyable if not for one of the worst narrators ever to read a book. The story just drones on and on without any real excitement with the exception of some overly emphasized fights...blah, blah, blah. These books are very juvenile and the narrator is inexperienced and annoying to listen to. If you are not a teen, you would more likely enjoy the Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost. In the future, if Emily Shaffer is the narrator, I will read the book instead of purchasing the audiobook, she gives me a headache, I actually have to stop listening to the book for a while to get a break from her whining. Normally I can't wait to listen to whichever book I am enjoying at the time, usually finishing them within a few days of beginning them, but I have been weeks trying to finish this book simply because of the terrible narration.

Cassandra Palmer can see the future and communicate with spirits - talents that make her attractive to the dead and the undead alike. The ghosts of the dead aren't usually dangerous; they just like to talk...a lot. The undead are another matter. Like any sensible girl, Cassie tries to avoid vampires, but when the bloodsucking mafioso she escaped three years ago finds Cassie again with vengeance on his mind, she's forced to turn to the vampire Senate for protection.

This book could be much more exciting, but the narrator is TERRIBLE. I listen to tons of audio books and a bad narrator can destroy a great book...this is a perfect example. This narrator doesn't even use correct pronunciation! If she has to say the word "costume" which she calls "coshtume" one more time, or "were" which she pronounces as "weer", or even the word "vague"(...who doesn't know the pronunciation of the word vague???), I think I might loose my mind! I hate to be rude or insulting, but for those of you think this is a good narrator, please, expand your horizons, because you must not listen to many audio books. There are some really great ones out there who really know how to stimulate the imagination, however; this lady is not one of them.

St. Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school - it's a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They've been on the run, but now they're being dragged back to St. Vladimir's - the very place where they're most in danger.

    "Terrible Narrator, A Little Boring"
    Overall

The story was ok, but I agree with many others, the narration is awful, she emphasizes the wrong words and reads in a cadence that just isn't pleasant at all. I think the story gets a little boring too, it drags on a bit...I was a little disappointed.
