A lifetime ago, every year Carole Shipley looked forward to her wedding anniversary. But then a celebratory trip to Mexico for the occasion with her husband and friends ended in the unsolved kidnapping of her infant daughter, Samantha. Now, 15 years after that horrific time, divorced and isolated, Carole is forced to relive the kidnapping by reporters who call every year on the anniversary of Samantha's disappearance.

Generally I choose my next book by the overall reviews of readers. Boy, was that a mistake with this one. How on earth did so many people rate this book so high. This book is terrible. I continually had a knot in my stomach as I listened to the dialogue between mother and daughter, and among the other characters, as well. It's like watching a Jerry Springer episode. Also, the narrator really needs to work on her depiction of male characters. They all sound exactly the same, kind of like the same cartoon character with his voice stuck up in his throat and some kind of weird, suddenly very proper, accent. I'm not finished reading this book and I'm plodding through it to get to the end. I would have returned it had I not just returned the one prior to it. The story could be good and I'm curious to see how it's going to end, but the journey getting there is painful.

Loved this book. The podcast format was captivating. My only criticism was that the stammering and stuttering of the interviewees was a little overdone and annoying. Overall, loved it. Listened to it in one day.

The last person Alice Shipley expected to see since arriving in Tangier with her new husband was Lucy Mason. After the accident at Bennington, the two friends - once inseparable roommates - haven't spoken in over a year. Lucy - always fearless and independent - helps Alice emerge from her flat and explore the country. But soon a familiar feeling starts to overtake Alice - she feels controlled and stifled by Lucy at every turn. Then Alice's husband, John, goes missing, and Alice starts to question everything around her.

Starts out really good, intriguing. But instead of building, it plummets. The narrator's gaspy, trembling voice for one of the characters drove me nuts.

When you listen to this audiobook, you will make many assumptions. You will assume you are listening to a story about a jealous ex-wife. You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement - a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love. You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle. Assume nothing. Twisted and deliciously chilling, The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage - and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

I had moments where I was really into this book, and then something so ridiculous would take place and I would feel like putting it down. Tired of these kinds of characters - wimpy wives, manipulative husbands. I don't really understand the drama over Richard. Lots of men -- and women -- turn out to be jerks, but he wasn't a serial murderer. And the narration for Richard was so annoying. Didn't like the portrayal of the male voices at all.

Amber Patterson is fed up. She's tired of being a nobody: a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background. She deserves more - a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted. To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne - a socialite and philanthropist - and her real-estate mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale. Amber's envy could eat her alive...if she didn't have a plan.
