What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A plot would have made it more enjoyable. I could not even finish it, which is rare for me.

Would you ever listen to anything by Elaine Raco Chase again?

I have as yet to listen to another book by this author, I have one and will get to it soon. It can surely only be an improvement

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Destiny Landon and Lee James ?

From the first syllable, Destiny Landon's voice was like listening to a cat cough up a fur ball, you would do almost anything to make it stop!

What character would you cut from Special Delivery?

All of them, they were shallow and vacuous, helped not at all by the female narrator. I could not even bring myself to wait for the sex scenes, the price was too high.

What had come over her? Exactly who was she - Brandy, lady of the night, or B. J. Abbott, architect, whose dreams were filled not with erotic languor, but with visions of concrete and steel. Cast in an unfamiliar role, she had chosen to play it to the hilt, and loved the part...unaware that it would throw her into emotional chaos. The romance for every woman who's never had the nerve - a rousing passionate battle of the sexes takes place as each tries to outdo the other in a witty, erotic contest of wills!

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

There was very little that could be done to improve this utter nonsense. The characters were shallow un unbelievable and just downright silly.

What was most disappointing about Elaine Raco Chase’s story?

The narrator. Clearly she is a lover of commas as she inserted them whenever she could, when they clearly did not belong! Some of the sentence structure was totally destroyed by her pauses in the middle of a sentence.

How could the performance have been better?

A different narrator would be a good start but rewriting the whole book was necessary.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Disappointment and annoyance

Newly widowed and desperate to protect her estate and beloved servants from her malevolent brother-in-law, Martha Russell conceives a daring plan. Or rather, a daring plan to conceive. After all, if she has an heir on the way, her future will be secured. Forsaking all she knows of propriety, Martha approaches her neighbor, a London exile with a wicked reputation, and offers a strictly business proposition: a month of illicit interludes... for a fee.

What did you love best about A Lady Awakened?

The language was so beautiful, English as it should be spoken. Though the language was old fashioned and quaint, it did not at all detract from the sizzle in the sex scenes

    Which scene was your favorite?

The scene when she finally enjoys the sexual encounter was stunning, I loved it. I would recommend this book to my friends without any hesitation.
