"Narration so bad it ruins an interesting read"
Yes as a written read not as an audio book.
Information about the pyramid was very good but much of the religious theory was misinformed.
Almost anyone, his narration is very poor, I almost couldn't take it.
Maybe as a Christian documentary. I would enjoy that if an actor with good pronunciation was the narrator.
I found the premise of the book to be plausible as a Christian. However, Mr Heron's accent is so thick and his pronunciation of so many words so distracting I almost gave up reading. He has particular trouble with the "th" sound, for example he pronounces "the" as "da" and "that" as "dat", earth as "ert" and "forth" as "fort", also "three" as "tree" and "third" as "turd". The longer you listen the worse his diction gets.
There are some factual errors as well, to many to note, but one error is that he stated it was uncommon for a king to enter a city riding an ass. In fact that was a very common and symbolically significant way for a king to enter a city at the time of Christ.
The book resounds with logical fallacies, example, he states that the statistical probability that Jesus would be betrayed by a friend would be at 10%. In fact it should be at or almost 100%, that is after all the meaning of the word betrayal, a trusted friend destroys some confidence.
He mentions a low probability that Jesus would be killed next to robbers and thieves. This also is a logical fallacy, Jesus was executed by the state as punishment for a crime it only follows logic that if he was executed with any other people that they would be convicted of some crime, the most common of which would be robbers and thieves.
He also mentioned that in five years, from the writing I assume, that half the world's oil reserves would be used up. Clearly, Mr. Heron is taking his talking points from liberal propagandist. The earth is literally swimming in the stuff. God has prepared everything we need and in abundance. I very seriously doubt the pollution and pestilence the scriptures warn about are going to be anything to do with man made global warming or man made anything.
Also, the numbers of species going extinct every year could be no where near the numbers he records. Something like 36000 species every year. One, how could anyone even know that and two, in a 10 years almost nothing would be left!
"David Brin at his best!"
Near the top
Probably the robot.
Did a nice job but the story was the star.
Move me? No, but the whole concept is really fun to think about.
One of my favorite books of all time not for anything but the concept of the practice effect.
"Fantastic "The Great One" never disapoints!"
Better for some, I really enjoyed being able to listen while I worked.
Freedom loving people who throughout history fought the tyrannical utopian masterminds.
I loved learning about the philosophies behind the founding of The United States.
I cry over the sad state the leftist utopian masterminds have brought this once free nation to.
A defining work! If you want to understand the greatest conflict mankind faces this is the handbook. Throughout the history of man the despotic masterminds have used the lie of a utopian paradise to fool the masses into tyrannical submission. Mark shows in his groundbreaking book just how close the radical left has brought this once great nation to its knees. I pray we are not too late to stop our latest utopian mastermind
