"As good as it gets !!"
This is an absolutely outstanding series ! In an alternative reality Union soldiers and freemen fight the ultimate war of survival. The books resonate with military planning, and epic battles. It also covers the human costs of people determined to survive in freedom.
"Solid Mil. SciFi"
I already have.
Narration was more workmanlike than engrossing.
Probably not.
As I said the book was worth the purchase, but not outstanding
"Don't be misled"
Written about a time of war and bloodshed, Counterattack, is more of a character study than a shootem' up. (and OH what great characters!!) Yes the "Tommie guns do blaze away" but the story of the men and women who fought is the real strength of this book. W.E.B. catches both the tone and courage of people who fought a very real war. One last point is what a wonderful job an author can do when his historical research is spot on.
Jack n.m.i. strecker.
The soon to be Sergent, Steven Koffler.
Lt. Joe Howard facing down his fear.
PLEASE keep this series going.
"Military Sci-Fi at its best."
I just listened to it for the 3rd time in 3 years. It is a great update of the Xeonophon story and a touch of Alexander the Great, with wonderful charactars throughout.
Great performance with several voice changes that ring true.
Prince Rogers transformation from spoiled brat to tough as nails leader.
All three books in the trilogy are great reads.
"Dated but servicable"
It is a walk down memory lane for Travis MCGee fans. The story does not translate well 40 years later.
The narration was a bit bland.
Yes , for those who like walking down memory lane.
"Disappointing sequel"
I thought the story line was thin at best, lacking the punch of Bazells' first book. The Epilogue was pompous at best, and foolishly huberistic at the other end of the scale.
Mr Bazell might consider concentrating on telling a good story more and sharing his politics less.
I would like to think his next effort would be better , so maybe I will give it a shot.
Nothing, they did a good job
The pendactic Epilogue.
I had eagerly awaited this sequel and was disappointed.
"Outstanding continuation of the Corps series."
Having read the Corps series 25 years ago I can say that the story seems even more fresh today. This book helps flesh out the characters we met in Book 1 : Semper Fi. For those who enjoy historical military novels, or just rousing tales in general, listen to this series.
I hope Audible soon has the rest of the Series available!
Griffin captures the feel of the Marines circa WW11.
SGT. Ernie Zimmerman. He is not the primary focus to be sure, but he gives you a feel for how a Marine would handle things.
PLEASE keep the series going on Audible!!
"Still a Great Story"
Many years ago I read the entire Corps series. It is every bit as good in audio. I hope Audible will do the entire Series and bring its wonderful characters to life once again.
Killer McCoy
As I mentioned earlier, I hope Audible brings this entire Series back to life.
"Rip roaring"
If you like cheering for the "LITTLE GUYS" this is a rip-roaring epic adventure, with characters worth rooting for.
"Good vs Evil"
This is the first installment of a great series by John Ringo. It is where John Wayne meets Tom Clancy to kick baddy butt.
