I was confused as to who was who throughout the entire story...the only two I knew were Paige and Abram...the rest all sounded the same to me. That being said...I enjoyed the book and it was worth the purchase.
I'm almost finished with this listen, however, I think I will be in bed under the covers for at least a week suffering from depression!! The story was well written, well narrated and totally dark. There has not been one happy moment in this story starting with the first word spoken. Come on...this is supposed to be a "R-O-M-A-N-C-E" story. Even the intimate moments are spoiled by something or other. Not my cup of tea...I like a little smile now and then with my men!! Would I recommend this book...only if you are abundantly happy and need to tone down to total depression mode!
Love these light-hearted stories. They are well written and narrated. I do hope there is more to come very soon!!
I enjoyed the storyline of this book. It certainly kept my interest. I won't recap the story and spoil it for anyone...the only problem I had with it was getting used to the narrator. She wasn't one of my favorite narrators for sure. She had a rather flat tone to her and I could not get used to her speaking with an american accent when she wasn't reading direct dialog. For me, it would have been much better if she stayed in character while even reading what they were thinking in their heads. That probably doesn't make any sense, however, I know what I mean. lol I would still recommend this story to anyone who loves Scottish romance...it is pretty hard to ruin that for me.
I totally enjoyed this 10-book series, however, this #10 was just a little "out there" for me. I ended up listening to the entire thing, however, after awhile it just sounded like bzzz baaa bzzz in my ear. Kind of like when the adults talk in the Peanut's cartoon shows. lol I completely recommend the other 9 books, however. I think that she just ran out of romance and ran into bizarre!! mm
I don't really know if this book was well written or not...the narrator was so bad...she sounded like she was reading a shopping list. No accents...no change of voices for different characters...I can't believe I wasted a credit on this book. WHY DOESN'T AN AUTHOR OF A BOOK LISTEN TO THE NARRATOR FIRST!!! I know if I spent weeks...months...whatever on writing a book, I would want to hear the finished product and approve or disapprove!! Just a shame!
I don't know if it was the narrator or me but, I was very confused throughout this entire book. There were way too many characters to follow ...with names that were similar. With several of the characters, their story never went anywhere. After awhile, it was just somebody talking in my head with no meaning at all. It was like the grown ups talking in the Peanuts cartoons..lol. I would love to listen to another of these books...dumbed down a little. You know what the saying is....Keep it simple stupid! lol.
I felt like I had already read this book, but the others had a little more steam...Maya, I hope you're not running out of steam here. I think what really ruined it for me was the narration of the woman's voice. She sounded like a "female impersonator". Many authors are now getting into the dual narration..with women reading women's parts and men reading men's parts. Please please please consider this...I feel it makes a huge difference in the story!!!
This book was just Okay for me...just okay!!
This is another good story by HH. Love the Wherlockes and all their "gifts". Can't wait for another one please!!
I like a little more steam in my Romance stories. As far as I could see all they did was kiss...that being said, it was a decent story line with likable characters. Narrator was good and I just felt it was a little ho-hum..sorry!!
The story started out okay...then it started to drag with too much dribble. The narrator wasn't one of my favorites... it was annoying how he waited so long in between chapters. Then the ending was almost cheesey ... It was sort of Gone With the Windish"... not that that isn't a wonderful book, but for today's standards..things have changed. Would I recommend this book...no, I don't think so. Only if you are desperate for a Scottish romance book... sorry!!
