The Duke of Castleford has been so bad for so long that scandal can't be bothered to rise up around him anymore. To alleviate the boredom of his privileged life, he occupies himself with drinking and whoring, not to mention the occasional duel. When something piques his interest, however, he has been known to emerge from his ennui and employ his considerable mental faculties to finding answers to the questions that fascinate him.

I totally enjoyed this series of four stories. I felt like I knew each one of the characters as they reappear in each book. The storylines were good and kept my interest. Just enough romance and steam!! Hope there is another in the series someday...I will be looking for that.

    Story

This book was pure entertainment. Nothing to think about such as historical correctness or any hidden messages, etc. This is one of those books you either love it or hate it. I loved it. The main character sounds to be very fluffy and dumb, however, when you get beneath the layers...something different emerges. What I liked the most is they get together early in the story and there isn't any of the angst and occurrences that would keep them apart. Just the right about of steamy moments, however, made lighter with the humorous banter taking place. I found myself laughing out loud at many moments in this story. The narrator did a good job and made it even more enjoyable. Worth the credit or purchase? I think so...anytime I can be entertained without having to think too hard is worth it to me!!

London, 1817. Stuck in a Mayfair ballroom thanks to his love-struck brother, highlander Arran MacLawry wants nothing but a bit of distraction from an arranged betrothal, and a clever, auburn-haired lass in a vixen's mask promises just that - until he discovers that she's the granddaughter of the Campbell, chief of clan MacLawry's longtime rival. Despite their families' grudging truce, falling for fiery Mary Campbell is a notion too outlandish even for this Highlander.

1200 A.D. - After decades of warring between the Lairds of Kerr and Prudhoe Castle in Northumbria, a tentative peace is reached. The Lady Carington Kerr is sent to Prudhoe as a hostage to ensure her father's good behavior, and a more reluctant hostage there never was. Small and dark, with emerald eyes and a luscious figure, she is as gorgeous as she is fiery. Enter Sir Creed de Reyne; a gentle giant of a man, he is, by nature, calm and wise. He is the ice to Carington's fire.

It is A.D. 1486. Fresh from his treacherous turning of the tides against Richard III in the Battle of Bosworth, Sir Gaston de Russe's reputation is dark and dirty. Those loyal to Richard hate him and those loyal to Henry Tudor fear him. He is, after all, The Dark One. In order to gain a strong foothold in Yorkshire, Henry sends Gaston to one of the largest fortresses in the north, a massive bastion called Mt. Holyoak Castle.

    Story

This was one of the best books I've listened to in a very long time. This was a well written exciting book. There were twists and turns all through this book. I know it seems long in time, however, I was never bored with this listen. The main characters were very likable and even some of the secondary characters find a place in your heart. There is much passion, hatred and many laughable moments throughout. I wish there were more like this and can't wait to look for more of this author's works. Worth the time and credit or price.

If there was a fault to be found at all...it was not with the writing or narrating of the story, but the editing. However, that being said, it is easy to overlook and continue on enjoying this story. I hope everyone enjoys this one as much as I did.
