We the Living portrays the impact of the Russian Revolution on three people who demand the right to live their own lives. At its center is a girl whose passionate love is her fortress against the cruelty and oppression of a totalitarian state. Rand said of this book: "It is as near to an autobiography as I will ever write."

Geoffrey says: "Emotionally intense, historically authentic"
    "Hard to listen to."

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Nothing to change. It was just depressing

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Nothing to change. It's what really happened.

Which character – as performed by Mary Woods – was your favorite?

    Kira.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    No

    Any additional comments?

It isn't Altas Shrugged, that's for sure. It was tough to get through. The story itself was just plain depressing. The fact that it is so real to life and what actually happened over there in the 1920's makes it even harder, I had to force myself to finish the book. It did drag in lot of areas and it just didn't keep my attention like her other books.

In a scrap heap within an abandoned factory, the greatest invention in history lies dormant and unused. By what fatal error of judgment has its value gone unrecognized, its brilliant inventor punished rather than rewarded for his efforts?

Would you listen to Atlas Shrugged again? Why?

I will and I already have. I have my favorite parts that I skip to.

What other book might you compare Atlas Shrugged to and why?

None yet. I listened to We The Living but it wasn't nearly as good.

Which character – as performed by Christopher Hurt – was your favorite?

    Francisco

If you could give Atlas Shrugged a new subtitle, what would it be?

    I wouldn't give it one.

    Any additional comments?

I had heard about this book and I saw the movie of the first part that came out in 2011. However, it is hard to make a movie out of a book where there is a lot of thinking. You can't capture the thought process that well. The book exceeded my expectations and made me wonder why some things (like the cheering people on the first John Galt run) were not in the movie.

Mr. Hurt did a GREAT job. He really put a lot into the characters. The background audio is choppy but it didn't detract from the book at all. All in all a great read. On to Fountainhead.
