Jeremy Bishop's first pulse-pounding novel is a horrific tale of post-apocalyptic terror that is one part zombie story and one part Dante's Inferno. The story asks hard questions and generates strong emotions in everyone who reads it--anger, excitement, and most of all: FEAR. This book asks the question that everyone is afraid to answer: Are you ready? Enter the mind of Jeremy Bishop if you dare. Share his nightmares. Experience the fear that shaped his life. You may never be the same.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The story if flacky and weird. Half of the story makes no sense while the other half is boring causing me to roll my eyes in disbelief. The story is novel in its own special way but I will take a predictable Zombie novel over a novel that sounds like a 12 year old came up with. Spaceships, ex-hippie monster, insane preacher, worm like human creature that eats leaves and poops them out, and Zombies that don't want to be Zombies. Yeah just save your credit.

Would you ever listen to anything by Jeremy Bishop again?

    Depends on the topic

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

    Narration was actually good.

Did TORMENT inspire you to do anything?

Roll my eyes countless times in disbelief and frustration.

Callis Rose is a girl blessed with a gift from above or cursed with a ruthless power she barely understands; it's really just a matter of degrees. As her family life is turned asunder she is thrown into an indifferent Social Services program where she defends herself the only way she knows how. Callis is moved from home to home until she finally settles at the Lowries. As she starts her first day of high school she meets both her favorite and least favorite person. Both happen to be part of the same household.

Loved this book! If Stephen King's "Carrie" had a sister or cousin she would be "Callis". The story is tragic on so many levels. I could not stop listening. I could see this book turned into a movie.

You have a beautiful little girl with a loving family but his is no ordinary girl. She has a gift, a gift that will destroy all she loves. MIx in nasty high school bullies, dysfunctional foster parents, and a witch and you have a recipe for trauma induced insanity.

For those who enjoyed reading Stephen King's "Carrie" you WILL LOVE "Callie Rose"!!!

Pros: Book is well written, plot is okay, character development is excellent, narrator is great, and the Talbots make a cameo appearance.

Cons: Story is a bit disturbing, which can be a good or bad thing depending on how desensitized you are. Bashing a seven year old's face and head into a car dashboard, raping nuns, and mutilating women are elements I can do without. The character is so disturbing and brutal I felt mostly nauseas trying to get through the book. The character has no redeeming qualities and he does not apologize for that. He is a womanizer, rapist, murderer, and a psychopath.

Every once in awhile I switch to listening to dark romance novels. They are not really my forte but Jeaniene Frost and J.R.Ward are brilliant at character development and plots. With this said I absolutely love the Vlad (Dark Prince) novel. It is sexy without over doing the raunchy sex, It is action-packed with suspense and mystery.

The novel takes the historical elements of Vlad Tepesh's history and character and turns him into ruthless vampire. "Frankie" or Layla has the ability to touch objects and see past and present. She also has the deadly ability to electrify those she touches. These abilities come after a horrific accident as a child. Caught in the middle of a vampire war, she is unwillingly sucked in (no pun) while trying to save those she loves.

The story is great, the love story is wonderful, and the action will keep you on the edge of your seat!

Really enjoyed this book. Non stop action! Characters are well developed, dialog is good, narrator is good, and story is Zombified! Must read for all Zombie lovers.

The main character sets out to vent his grief on Zombies for the death of his family only to meet a one of his neighbors who has also survived. She is petrified of the walking dead and wants to escape far away from the hordes of living dead.

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. You will not want to stop listening!!!

People refer to the infected as "zombies" although that's not what they really are. The word zombie implies the infected have died and reanimated. The thing is, those infected with Mad Swine, they didn't die. They're still alive; they even breathe. They're just not human anymore. No one really knows how or why it started. What we do know is that the H1N1 virus - or the damn vaccinations that everyone so anxiously lined up for hours to get - mutated in a bad way.

First of the book starts out great. A man trying desperately trying to flee the city to reach his children during the beginning stages of the Zombie apocalypse. When I say desperately I mean this poor guy is extremely desperate. The first of the book is past paced frightening and very tragic. After finding his children he heads home to see his wife only to be met by his brother. This is where the book SLOWS down. The man settles as the leader in his home town. The rest of the book focuses on the adjustment period this town and man goes through. To me it was kind of boring but I heard part 2 picks back up!

The book is well written and character development is great. Dialog could be better in some places but it could be the way the narrator reads.

I will be moving on to book 2! Worth the credit if nothing else good is out.

Weird! I am not sure how to write a review about this book. Some elements were good (e.g., the action scenes and the suspense) while others were bad (e.g., the story as a whole and character development).

You have demons controlling the dead while demi gods wage war. Evil and good humans fight to save or end the world as human sacrifice (young girls) are doorways or vessels. A father searches for his missing daughter while a man tries to discover his hero role in destroying the demons and gods.

I couldn't stop listening but at the same time I thought "what a awful book"!

Sorry but I know my review is not much help.

I can see this book being turned into a miniseries on HBO. This book is unlike anything I have read (listen to). There is constant action that keeps you at the edge of your chair gasping in shock.

The book follows a husband and wife trying to tell the world of a horrific virus spreading through America. No one listens at first then the outbreak begins. The virus is so frightening it promotes paranoia and fear. At first people believe it is psychological but as scientist begin to discover a virus in the brain all hell breaks out. Society collapses and gruesome murder and death is widespread. You can try to run for your life but eventually the noids will find you. Awesome book!

Well I really wanted to like this book. Parts of the book was okay but in my opinion Aliens and Zombies just do not go good together....at least in this story. The story was weak, the characters shallow, and the plot was ridiculous.

The "bad guy" is able to control zombies via alien head band received from a alien to lead the undead across America converting more zombies. UGH!!! Not my cup of tea!

The characters and some scenerios are a lot like Zombie Fallout.... I do not like copycats.

Most scenerios do not make sense and are unrealistic hence the SciFi "B" movie feel.

Good book. Typical and predictable. The story is set around several individuals (sadist, drug dealer, and a man who lost his son) whose path crosses several times throughout the book. Other characters are introduced as survival AMONG THE DEAD becomes dyer before the government launches a lethal gas bomb.

The book is well written. Character development is good. A few surprises along the way. Worth the credit!
