As a huge Stephen King fan since the early '70s I eagerly awaited the continuing story of Danny Torrence. While the book was entertaining I felt let down.
I felt it was too preachy and too heavily laden with the AA theme.
The villains seemed like a bunch of bumbling hillbillies who weren't frightening at all. Rose, their "Queen" didn't have a realm of "scary" in her.
Mostly, the story didn't seem to move. I kept waiting for something to happen and guessing (rather accurately) what was around the corner. I guess what bummed me out the most was that I like to get scared when I read a King novel.
Dr. Sleep just didn't do it for me. Sorry Uncle Steve.
