Maya is hiding in plain sight in London. The 26-year-old has abandoned the dangerous obligations pressed upon her by her father and chosen instead to live a normal life. But Maya comes from a long line of people who call themselves Harlequins, a fierce group of warriors willing to sacrifice their lives to protect a select few known as Travelers.

I have to be honest, I only got this book because it was read by Scott Brick.
I knew I would enjoy it. I never knew how much it would make me stop and think.
This book was very different from his usual reads. More than just a mystery or fantasy, this book has a spiritual element. As I listened, I was reminded of Orwell's "1984", and it caused me to wonder just how close to "Big Brother" we have gotten. John Twelve Hawks, through the characters he created in this book, asks a lot of questions. The answers perhaps are a little too scary for us to hear.

Some mistakes can change your life forever. For Matt Hunter, that mistake came in one terrible moment when his attempt to help a friend and stop a fight resulted in an accidental death. Matt was convicted of manslaughter and sent to prison. Time that his peers spent in college, Matt endured behind bars.

    Overall

I was going to buy the written version of this book because it included a short story featuring Myron Bolitar, a fun character of Mr. Coben, but when I saw that it was read by SCOTT BRICK, I just had to have the audio version! ( I think Scott
Brick could make multiplication tables interesting.) Coupled with Coben's plot weaving, I found it to be a compelling read. If you have read Coben before, don't be surprised if your "AHA" is not as pronounced, as in say, TELL NO ONE, but I still recommend it. If you never read Coben, and like mystery, then I think you're in for a treat, and if you never listened to a book read by Scott Brick, well then ,rather than a treat, for you I think this will be a true delicacy. ENJOY!!!!
PS: I only gave four stars because, I did figure out most of it.

At the end of a long day battling street traffic, bike messenger Jace Damon has one last drop to make. But en route to delivering a package for one of L.A.'s sleaziest defense attorneys, he's nearly run down by a car, chased through back alleys, and shot at. Only the instincts acquired while growing up on the streets of L.A. allow him to escape with his life, and with the package someone wants badly enough to kill for.

Before I begin, I must admit that I have an "audio crush" on Scott Brick. I just love his narrations!!! That being said, the plot has its twists and turns, but when you, like I, may listen to as many as 3 audio books in a 10 day period, a lot of them mysteries, many times you can figure out where the author is going. If you like that, Tami leaves a bunch of clues along the way. (I personally like to groan with delight when the author has bamboozled me all the way thru, e.g Harlan Coben.)But the plot is intriguing, and her graphic descriptions of injuries will have you "aching" for the characters involved. I gave it four stars because aside from the narration, the story will not disappoint the reader. Although I did manage to figure out the basic outcome from Tami's clues, the details are always a surprise.

Aloft offers a reexamination of the American dream from the inside out. Jerry Battle's favorite diversion is to fly his small plane solo, slipping away for quick flights over his Long Island home or to the coastal towns of New England. Then a family crisis occurs, and Jerry finds he must face his disengagement in his relationships.

If, you like me, think that your family falls under the current "dysfunctional" classification, then this is a book to give you hope and belief that, even though you may fall far from the american "norm", it is love that binds us together, and in the end somehow, triumphs over all our short comings and imperfections.
It did start out slow for me, but stay with it...it grabbed my heart somewhere, and still hasn't let it go.
I don't know that if I had "read" it , I would have experienced the same outcome, as the reader for me became Jerry Battle, telling his story, that I think, connects us to our own...
