Lauren is downtown Chicago's youngest elite realtor. She's also a witch. She must be - the fetching spell for Witches' Chat isn't supposed to make mistakes. So says the woman who coded the spell, at least. The tall, dark, and handsome guy sent to assess her is a witch too (and no, that doesn't end the way you might think). What he finds in Lauren will change lives, mess with a perfectly good career, and require lots of ice cream therapy.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this story to anyone who loves to read. I have read the series in book form and this is the first step into a world of wonder and sweeps you from your mundane existence.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The characters ore so real that you will learn to love them all.

Which character – as performed by Martha Harmon Pardee – was your favorite?

Moria is a witch to be reckoned with

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

In terms of honesty i must admit that this author is one of the best story tellers I have ever read. There are several times that I laughed so hard I literally hurt my ribs.

    Any additional comments?

Having read the book the day before and then listening to it on Audible it was almost like reading a different book. The reason is the things I see in my mind are different from the things the reader draws for me to see! It is worth more that the small sum charged.

If you could sum up To Have and To Code in three words, what would they be?

    Totally freaking awesome.

What other book might you compare To Have and To Code to and why?

Romeo and Juliet! It is a love story for the ages only it has a happy ending.

    Which scene was your favorite?

This is a bit of a spoiler, but Nell's reveal.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

My wife went to the ER and they could not decide what tests to run for a long time. Listening to this book was the best thing in the world to help me keep it together. I have listened to several of the these books and I love them.

    Any additional comments?

I spent years driving a company truck doing electrical work in an area the size of Rhode Island. I would listen to old favorite books. It was great because it was almost like having a brand new book. I always found new nuances, ways to see a great book in a new way. I loved listening to old friends and getting to know them better. For someone who likes a lot of different Genres to say that I have found a new favorite author is a major statement. If you do not believe me then read my reviews about Debora Geary on Amazon dot com. I have all of this author's audible books and am agitating for the rest. These are well worth the credits it takes to buy them, and frankly I WANT THEM NOW!

The kompani see none as an enemy, and yet few as friend. The kompani exist in many places, living quietly in the shadows, thriving off the bounty that others have no wit to secure, nor skill to defend. Their private history is unwritten; their recall rooted in dance and dream. The Clan Korval is in many ways the opposite of the kompani. The interstellar trading clan is wealthy in enemies, and fortunate in friends. Korval protects itself with vigor, and teaches even its youngest children the art of war

If you could sum up Cryoburn in three words, what would they be?

I have read this book four times and the afterwords have always been gut wrenching. Listening to the book as always gave me new perspective about the story. However the five epilogs, were even more of a world tilting experience. This woman is a master story teller. There was a death (not Miles) in this book that was almost as big a loss as if the character was a for real friend I have known for many years. I found myself on the brink of tears from grief as real as any I have ever felt. This is the result of a Master of her craft.
Thank you Lois for such awesome work and for sharing it with us!

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Lord Miles, followed by Roic

Assistant Trader Jethri Gobelyn was an honest, hardworking young man who knew a lot about living onboard his family's space-going trade ship; something about trade, finance, and risk-taking; and a little bit about Liadens. It was, oddly enough, the little bit he knew about Liadens that seemed like it might be enough to make his family's fortune, and his own, too. In short order, however, Jethri Gobelyn was about to find out a lot more about Liadens... like how far they might go to protect their name and reputation.

What did you love best about The Hot Gate?

I am a Coast Guardsman. I spent a lot of time underway and I could empathize with the competent personnel in the book. Back in the post Viet Nam era military we had some of the same problems. They were overcome by less intense methods but in combat I could see the lead character being just this way.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Hot Gate?

The everyday problems of daily living in space were carefully considered and delt with.

What does Mark Boyett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I read the book before I listened to it. I usually do this because my mind builds a different world in my mind. This gives the book a whole new flavor.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen in a single setting. I travel a lot.

Hundreds of miles from ZaraCorps headquarters on planet, 178 light-years from the corporations headquarters on Earth, Jack is content as an independent contractor, prospecting and surveying at his own pace. As for his past, thats not up for discussion.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The author did a rewrite that either eliminated several of the original characters and emasculated the personalities of those that remained. Fifty years has made some changes culture but has not changed Human Nature in the way people are going to act.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Cast in Courtlight

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Fuzzy Nation?

The author does not understand those people who live alone or in really small communities in the wilderness or frontier! I would have sent the book for a total rewrite.

Boss loves to dive historical ships, derelict spacecraft found adrift in the blackness between the stars. Sometimes she salvages for money, but mostly she's an active historian. She wants to know about the past--to experience it firsthand. Once she's dived the ship, she'll either leave it for others to find or file a claim so that she can bring tourists to dive it as well. It's a good life for a tough loner, with more interest in artifacts than people.

Disappointed with supposed tech levels described for diving in space. I am an experienced wreck diver with a PADI Divemaster rating and the description for diving a wreck jibs with scuba tech of the 1970's
