From the moment he set foot on it, Karl Rove has rocked Americas political stage. He ran the national College Republicans at 22, and turned a Texas dominated by Democrats into a bastion for Republicans. He launched George W. Bush to national renown by unseating a popular Democratic governor, and then orchestrated a GOP White House win at a time when voters had little reason to throw out the incumbent party.

Deborah T. says: "Wow! Karl Can Read & Write"

I really enjoyed his presentation; it was well done and interesting.

Jamie Fraser knows from his time-traveling wife Claire that, no matter how unlikely it seems, America will win the Revolutionary War. But that truth offers little solace, since Jamie realizes he might find himself pointing a weapon directly at his own son - a young officer in the British army. And Jamie isn't the only one with a tormented soul - for Claire may know who wins the conflict, but she certainly doesn't know whether or not her beloved Jamie survives.

Charles says: "Read all of Gabaldon's stuff before this one"
    "Horrible"
    Overall

Too many characters appear in this book; very confusing. Very difficult to follow. Bad discriptive sexual materiel in this book to no avail to the story line. For the publishers price its very poor.

  • The Last Train from Hiroshima: The Survivors Look Back

Last Train from Hiroshima offers listeners a stunning "you are there" time capsule, gracefully wrapped in elegant prose. Charles Pellegrino's scientific authority and close relationship with the A-bomb's survivors make his account the most gripping and authoritative ever written. At the narrative's core are eyewitness accounts of those who experienced the atomic explosions firsthand---the Japanese civilians on the ground and the American fliers in the air.

    Daniel says: "Awsome"
    "must read"

This is a wonderful read; lots of facts; reader is very good; they should work together again.

On the eve of Marcus Cicero's inauguration as consul of Rome, the grisly death of a boy sends ripples of fear through a city already wracked by civil unrest, crime, and debauchery of every kind. Felled by a hammer, his throat slit and his organs removed, the young slave appears to have been offered as a human sacrifice, forbidden as an abomination in the Roman Republic. For Cicero, the ill forebodings of this hideous murder only increase his frustrations and the dangers he already faces as Rome's leader.

I just have a hard time getting into this at all. I can see why it was put on sale for the week. Dull and boring.

The Last Bridge weaves a tale about a man who actually travels beyond this life and world, experiencing the reality of what the Bible hints at. It is not, however, merely an imaginative travelogue. Our hero is a stubborn agnostic...one who has been deeply wounded by life. What his adventures do to him - and the events in which he becomes involved - form an absorbing narrative full of surprises all the way to last word.

Norm says: "Deceiving Story - NOT Christian"
    "good listen"
    Overall

The last bridge is interesting. Some of the names became confusing and were hard to keep track of; other than that good book.

The organized criminal gangs of the former Soviet Union are bound by what they call the thieves' code. The first rule is this: A thief must forsake his mother, father, brothers, and sisters. He must have no family - no wife, no children - because only other criminals are his family. If any of the rules are broken, it is punishable by death.

Mystery Addict says: "Not Elvis but a good listen"

I think the story was a little had to follow; so many characters names constanly floating in and out of the story line; very confusing. Foul lang uage was used very heavily. Story line ok.
