"WOW!!!!"
I can't believe I let this book sit in my wish list for over two years based on user reviews of the reader. Obviously they have never experienced a bad or mediocre reader. Lorna Raver was perfect. I liked her subtle Maine accent. I had no problems trying to figure out the characters. She had great voices for all.
I read the book back when it came out in hardbound. It was good then. It’s still good now. King’s character development in his early days can’t be beat.
I spent a whole day playing solitaire on my computer listening to the end of the book. I couldn’t put it down (or stop listening).
"Tedious"
Yes
Reader was very good
disappointment
Story was just too weird... forced myself to finish it... a waste of my time...
"Tried so hard to get into this story"
I used to love Pendergast (I've read them all) but this book was just too tedious to finish.
"Wish I could give this book more than 5 stars..."
in all three catagories!
More than a great story. I love a novel that educates.
Reader is perfect.
Lost a whole weekend because I couldn't turn it off...
"Great!"
Really entertaining… listened to it in two days… couldn’t put it down (or away)…
I especially enjoyed the short story of the Reacher brothers in their teens included at the end.
Dick Hill is Jack Reacher!
Whoever decided to cast Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher in the upcoming movie obviously has not read the series… He does not fit my mental image at all.
"really disappointed..."
I guess i keep looking for "The Sparrow" or "Children of God"... this wasn't it. I gave it over 4 hours of my time and just couldn't get into it... I really wanted to like it, but it didn't happen...
"what a disappointment"
waited so long and it was so less than expected... a waste of a credit...
"How sad..."
I remember reading on Dan Brown's web site that the next Robert Langdon novel would be out within a year or two from the Da Vinci Code. But I waited and waited and then last year the Wall Street Journal ran an article predicting when it would appear... they were over a year off...
I believe Dan Brown worked too hard at this novel and missed the boat completely. It was a great disappointment. I had to really work at finishing it...
The reader, Paul Michael, was great... he just didn't have a lot to work with...
I have read and/or listened to all Dan Brown's novels (and enjoyed all 4 of them) but after listening to "The Lost Symbol" I feel that I've lost yet another favorite author to commercialism. How sad... but luckily there are a lot of other (and new) authors to hitch my star to...
Sorry but...
Goodbye Dan Brown
You were great while you lasted...
"You can't go wrong with a Ken Follett novel"
My first experience was Pillars of the Earth followed by World without End and then every non espionage novel of his that I could find... I have not been disappointed...
"Just OK"
Still looking for a comparable novel to her Doomsday Book... that was a great novel...
