Marty Kalish is a young man suffocating in the heat of an affair with a married woman named Rachel. When Rachel's husband disappears one night, Marty is one of the first to be questioned. With few likely suspects, the police arrest him for murder. We want him to be innocent, but the more he tells us, the more we fear he is guilty. And as the twists and turns of the plot unfold, we can't be completely sure.

I never figured out the ending. Marvelous writing and great narrator. Wish I could find more of author's books.

In the latest from Nelson DeMille (author of The Lion's Game), Paul Brenner is called out of CID retirement to investigate the murder 30 years ago of an army lieutenant in Vietnam. Brenner's trip up country, with a beautiful American expatriate for company, will lead him to uncover an explosive, long-buried secret.

I just finished listening to "Up Country" and I could not stop until the very end. I grew up in the 60's but really did not understand what our troops went through until now. A beautiful story with marvelous word pictures of the country. I love Scott Brick's narration. He is one of my favorites.

    You must read this book!

I have read all of Stephen King's books and have read this one. I bought the audio and after listening to it have decided this is the second best book he has written. (The first being The Stand) I think from now on I will get his audio first. The narrator was very good and not distracting as so many are.

When Lincoln's estranged cousin Arthur Rhyme is arrested on murder charges, the case is perfect - too perfect. Forensic evidence from Arthur's home is found all over the scene of the crime, and it looks like the fate of Lincoln's relative is sealed.

I normally like Jeffry Deaver, and I probably would like to read this one, however I had to stop listening to the book because the narrator was so bad. The publishers should take more time in auditioning the voices of the narrator.
