I enjoyed this book enough to take my ipod in from the car and listen to it while I was working around the house just to hear the finish. So far I have never been disappointed with Stephen King.
The setup and scenario grab you right from the start and set a very creepy dark environment. The storyline maintains this feel through the first half of the book and keeps you on your toes. I loved the first half and would have given it a full 5 stars if the rest of the book had been able to hold this level of intrigue.
Without giving the ending away, I will just say that once the mystery is solved and the heroes go about trying to eliminate the problem the story line becomes more predictable and loses a little of it's initial appeal. It is still very good and I highly recommend it in the Audio version.
I really like Stephen King and have read most of his books. This book although very good, was also very long. It is written from the female perspective and I am sure women will enjoy it. For me it was overly descriptive and a little too long. If I were to do it over again this is one of the few books I would get the abridged version of if available.
Great audio book. I thouroughly enjoyed it. It has a compelling plot, good character creation and well researched details. The Narration was very well done and not overly acted.
I am not sure where to start with this; There was very little to like about this book. First of all it was not only very far fetched but the title was very misleading. There is no "book of fate" in the entire story aside from a little crazy ranting from a psychotic killer. The insinuation that this story involves some Masonic or other conspiracy plot is a complete fabrication. The narration was overdone to the point of nausea. The main character is a "shattered" introspective kid who even at the end of the book is just as lame as he was from the start. If I didn't know better I would have said this book was written by a female since the "hero" seems more feminine than masculine and the writer tends to examine his emotions way more than I cared to hear about. The storyline itself though far fetched, could have been salvaged by a good writer. Maybe the abriged version is better.
As always with Hiaasen, a funny book with a wide range of diverse characters. Good entertainment.
This was really a fascinating book, but I would recommend getting the print version if you have the time to read it. Malcom Gladwell did some really good research and writes a good book, I just think the audio version would have been more appealing if he had gotten someone else to read it. The narration is a bit whiny and overdone. I would have given it 5 stars with a different narrator.
This was a good book, but gets a little long in the unabridged version and seems to reiterate some points a little much. I liked it ok overall.
This was a very good and interesting book. I had just finished reading the print version of TRex and this just carried along the story in a very nice transition. Reads very much like a novel.
I was a bit disappointed in this book. My expectations were much higher. Could be I just misunderstood his theory, but I could have done without some of the self promotion and really could have done without the "songs" which he sings on the audio version. Not really any facts you could sink your teeth into. I did feel he was sincere, and some people may really like the content. Just not for me.
