Thousands of autonomous computer programs, or daemons, make our networked world possible, running constantly in the background of our lives, trafficking e-mail, transferring money, and monitoring power grids. For the most part, daemons are benign, but the same can't always be said for the people who design them.

Something scary is happening to boys today. From kindergarten to college, they are less resilient and less ambitious than they were a mere 20 years ago. Fully one-third of men ages 22 to 34 are still living at home with their parents, about a 100 percent increase in the past 20 years. Boys nationwide are increasingly dropping out of school; fewer are going to college. Family physician and research psychologist Dr. Leonard Sax presents practical solutions.

This book gives great insight into what the problem may be in today's make students and stresses on teams and competition as a way to save them. If you have young sons this is a great way to get information on ideas on how to help raise them. This book makes lots of sense. It also encourages parents to take those video games away. They sap the motivation and drive right out of your children.

Her academic career has left her entirely unprepared for the day her sophisticated research is conscripted by unknown forces to help run an unmanned - and thanks to her research, automated - drone army. Odin is the secretive Special Ops soldier with a unique insight into the faceless enemy who has begun to attack the American homeland with drones programmed to seek, identify, and execute targets.

After reading Daemon and Freedom TM this is a great book that continues to be in the technical style and sensibility you'd expect from Suarez. Good read and worth the credit. Jeff Gurner is great as always for the narration.

Ken Follett's World Without End was a global phenomenon, a work of grand historical sweep beloved by millions of readers and acclaimed by critics. Fall of Giants is his magnificent new historical epic. The first novel in The Century Trilogy, it follows the fates of five interrelated families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - as they move through the world-shaking dramas of the First World War, the Russian Revolution, and the struggle for women's suffrage.

Kevin Mitnick was the most elusive computer break-in artist in history. He accessed computers and networks at the world’s biggest companies—and however fast the authorities were, Mitnick was faster, sprinting through phone switches, computer systems, and cellular networks. He spent years skipping through cyberspace, always three steps ahead and labeled unstoppable.

Great story told by the person that lived it. I know there are a bunch of people out there that hate on Mitnick quite a bit. They have to understand that this was quite a different time and place in those days. He has a skill that all security professionals strive to sharpen. Social Engineering. This is one of the single most valuable assets a security professional can have and he stone cold nailed it back in the day. I would recommend this book highly.

Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

I know it has the high powered political support in the beginning by Newt Gingrich but I wasn't impressed with that. The book didn't need that. The content was awesome and the story was great. It also carries plausibility in reference to the real world. Great Book!

In today's superheated business climate, executives and managers are under increasing pressure to squeeze every last drop of productivity out of their people. Built around inspiring stories from both the military and business worlds, Leadership Lessons of the Navy Seals outlines a step-by-step approach to boosting morale and increasing productivity in any business organization.

C'mon don't kid yourself. It tells you some of the stuff you should be doing already. Or the stuff you don't have the fortitude to do right now. But it's a slap into reality that every manager should hear. I'd like to give this book to the management @ 2 of the "Big Three" automakers namely the biggest. Boy do they ever need to hear this!

Now, in the first book ever written about this ultrasecretive department, the former director of OTS teams up with an internationally renowned intelligence historian to give listeners an unprecedented look at the devices and operations deemed "inappropriate for public disclosure" by the CIA just two years ago.

This book had great information about the tech. The real-world examples made it a thriller at times. Technical people will appreciate this book. The political analysis and back-drop help paint a precise picture of the time periods.

Subtitled "Memoirs of a Navy Seal", Captain Robert A. Gormly tells his amazing story as the leader of the US Navy SEALs, taking us into the night, into the water and into battle on some of the most hair-raising missions ever assigned. Rising through the chain of command within the SEALs from platoon leader to commanding officer, Gormly's journey began with a chance meeting on a Virginia beach.....

Grenada account is very interesting. What a life this guy had! Gormly also appears and is mentioned in the book Kill Bin Laden by Dalton Fury. Just a testament to how deeply important to the Special Forces in general Gormly was. He is truly an accomplished "operator". The Vietnam accounts were the best part of this book in my opinion.
