Ship's counsellor Deanna Troi mysteriously falls ill...and dies. But her death marks the start of an incredible adventure for Commander Riker - an adventure that takes him across time, pits him against one of his closest friends, and forces him to choose between Starfleet's strictest rule and the one he calls Imzadi. Read by Jonathan Frakes, and enhanced with sound effects!

    Overall

I love Star Trek - but this is far from the classic imaginative and adventurous stories I like -
If I knew it was a super cheesy romance I would not have bought it.
"....young lovers in the jungle...." !!! lol

.... the sound quality is disappointing as well.

Dubbed the American Tolkien by Time magazine, George R. R. Martin has earned international acclaim for his monumental cycle of epic fantasy. Now the number-one New York Times best-selling author delivers the fifth book in his spellbinding landmark series - as both familiar faces and surprising new forces vie for a foothold in a fragmented empire.

What made the experience of listening to A Dance with Dragons the most enjoyable?

Roy is an incredible reader. The story is so well built - the characters are expressed from the inside out - incredible depth - creating incredible visuals for me. Wow.

What about Roy Dotrice’s performance did you like?

My god he has endurance. Excellent voice. Perfect for this genre. I think it would be hard to have to come up with the voices for all the characters, - some of the accents (East Indian, French, pirate etc) were a bit too cliche'. But I'll take this over boring reading any day. I understand it may be very hard to follow without variation in the characters voices as the story is rich and deep, and so are the characters.

Neanderthals have developed a radically different civilization on a parallel Earth. A Neanderthal physicist, Ponter Boddit, accidentally passes from his universe into a Canadian underground research facility. Fortunately, a team of human scientists, including expert paleo-anthropologist Mary Vaughan, promptly identifies and warmly receives Ponter. Solving the language problem and much else is a mini-computer, called a Companion, implanted in the brain of every Neanderthal. But it can't help his fellow scientist back in his world, Adikor Huld, when the authorities charge Adikor with his murder.

What would have made Hominids better?

Said Ponter, said Adicore, said Ponter, said Adicore.. and the simplest of language.

Either act the reading or read it please! The laid back tone of the reader during intense moments helps make the already simple and barely descriptive writing even less believable. The sudden acting in a few places and not others is frustrating.
The characters are simple, plastic, so surface, no depth of human experience expressed here.

Maybe its because I just finished the Game of Thrones series, searingly written, and masterfully read.

It was painful enough that I only got 1.5 hours through - maybe it became incredible and rich but I couldn't stand it any longer.

Would you ever listen to anything by Robert J. Sawyer again?

    No

Would you be willing to try another one of Jonathan Davis and Robert J. Sawyer ’s performances?

    no

Three years have passed since the widowed Dowager Royina Ista found release from the curse of madness that kept her imprisoned in her family's castle of Valenda. Her newfound freedom is costly, bittersweet with memories, regrets, and guilty secrets, for she knows the truth of what brought her land to the brink of destruction. And now the road, escape, beckons...A simple pilgrimage, perhaps. Quite fitting for the Dowager Royina of Chalion.

What made the experience of listening to Paladin of Souls the most enjoyable?

I can't imagine a better reader for this story - Kate Reading was exemplary. The story is so well written and paints not only an excellent visual picture, but an auditory and sensory story as well - I will be looking for more books by Lois McMaster Bujold.I enjoyed the experience from beginning to end.
I would also add that the audio quality is very good -

A Hunger for the Infinite, which first appeared in Robert Silverberg's Far Horizons anthology, is a novella that takes place in the universe of "The Galactic Center Saga", detailing a galactic war between mechanical and biological life. Here, the pilots had made it to True Center in order to destroy something, anything, important to the Mechs, but Paris had something else on his mind. A story of the Mantis, and the decline of humans beginning in 3600 AD.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Imaginative, but I am not drawn to disturbed gore, so I only got through the first 14 min. It may have gotten better as it developed, but Im not putting myself through that.Very imaginative though.
