Wow, what a story. I could not stop listening. I loved all the narrators and the characters were all so multi layered and fascinating. "Maymobally" was an interesting choice for the name of a white baby girl i thought but, so cute. I just want to wrap my arms around all those "maids" and give then a big old hug. Even "Mini". What more can I say. Loved it!
I really liked the story in this title but, I nearly couldn't listen to the whole book because the narration made me cringe. Every time a new character was introduced, I held my breath then thought NO! They were over acted and just embarassing. I'm sorry Mr Morse but Dick Hill will always be Reacher to me (Jeff Harding is a close second). I read the paper version of this book afterwards and enjoyed it much more. A different sort of story line for Lee Child but still very enjoyable. If you can get the version read by Dick Hil I'm sure you will really enjoy it otherwise, listen with a sense of humour and an open mind because the story is worth it!!!!!
This was my first Thriller novel and Jack Reacher has me hooked. Great narration although Carmen sounded like a transexual. The story kept me enthralled from the begining to the end. My only problem now is which Reacher novel should I listen to next...........I chose "Worth Dying for"! Hope it is the right choice.......
This book is fabulous. I saw the movie because everyone raved about the book but, the movie is so superficial and just does not get the book at all. This book is really about a journey of enlightenment and it is so spiritual and so beautiful but the best part of all is that it is narrated by the author so i really felt like I was listening to a friend telling me about her journey through a really tough time in her life. It was a wonderful read.
This is the first book by Jodi Picoult that I have read so I don't know if it is just her style of writing or if it is just this book but, I found it quite confusing at times. I really enjoyed the story and the narration was great (even the teenage girl who sounded like she was reading was ok by me) but, I found that a chapter would start and it would take me 5 mins to work out who the character talking is.It turns out to be that she has jumped forward in time to a character we have not been introduced to yet in a place that the main characters are going to but have not arrived at yet. It is so confusing but, when you get to the end of the book, all is revealed and everything falls into place. Anyway, I did enjoy it and it was a bit rounchy at times. I don't think I will read another one of her books though
