When a suitor tells Arabella he's willing to overlook her appalling bluestocking tendencies on account of her looks and fortune, she decides to take a break from the Marriage Mart. During an extended stay in the country, she never expects to meet Lord John Blackwood, a wounded war hero who intrigues her like no other man.

The narrator with her flippant and shrill presentation destroyed an already weak story line

Young librarian Samantha Watkins has always been perfectly content with her humdrum existence. Never easily fitting in with anyone anywhere, she feels most at ease in silence, among stacks of books. Sam believes in leaving fantasy and drama to the characters in her beloved novels. But one night when she leaves work late, she finds herself center stage in a tale of vengeance and terror.

The previous books in this series were narrated by Jennifer Ikeda who did a superb job. She brought the story to life and drew in the reader. Unfortunately the new narrator for this book, Amanda Leigh Cobb lacks that talent. This superb book was ruined for me by the narration. which was detached and did not draw in the reader. I ended up buying a hard cover version and reading it.

Beautiful and feisty Henrietta Barrett has never followed the dictates of society. She manages her elderly guardian's estate, prefers to wear breeches rather than dresses, and answers to the unlikely name of Henry. But when her guardian passes away, her beloved home falls into the hands of a distant cousin. William Dunford, London's most elusive bachelor, is stunned to learn that he's inherited property, a title, and a ward bent on making his first visit his last.

The narrator should look for another line of work. The presentation is dreadful. She makes the main character who is suppose to be 29 years old sound like a 65 old fat "has been".
