This is the first Ken Bruen book I've listened to and I came straight off Adrian McKinty and Stuart Neville, looking for something similar. This is not. It has a kind of who cares attitude right down to the ending. It's full of excess and the results of it and makes no apologies.
I liked the characters they were interesting and you felt for them, but the story has a weird pace. It spent a lot of time up front and all of a sudden it ended. Still if you are in it for the journey as opposed to a succinct destination it's a colourful jaunt. I'm downloading two more right now, prepared to give Ken a couple more tries.
I don't like books with torture in them in any form, but I had to see what happened to the gray man so I skipped the bits I didn't like and was glad I did, another great story that had me on the edge of my seat and I didn't see the end coming,
This was a promo and it was great! Courtland Gentry is in a dangerous business and he handles the business with class. Loved this book, bought the rest of the series and can't wait for December.
This series is one of my favourites, action story about a bloke with a job to do and off he goes and does it, he has a clear moral compass and he doesn't agonise or overthink his emotions they don't make em like the grey man very often.
It got carried away with how clever it was, obscure became confusing and although I think the premise is good the execution rambled on and became convoluted eventually it lost me.
This series is good I will buy the next one if there is one. Angel isn't what I expected, some of this genre make a lot of the gore and I thought I'd have issues with the gore ...you know Zombies...but I get more caught up in what's happening to the characters because it's a compelling story for the most part.
I enjoyed this it's a solid story, it has the original Bond story timing, Bond girls in peril, evil bad guys who won't die and plenty of twists and turns. Kept my interest.
The story is interesting, the characters make you want to know them better and it has James Bond, gotta be happy with that.
I'm a massive Bond fan, love the movies read all the books even ones by various authors taking up the mantle, this was an awful movie but it's a better read and a good listen.
It didn't really go anywhere. I wanted to like the characters and I did for a split second here and there but it felt like it started to be good and then changed direction.
It's long and I got a bit lost with the characters that the count pretends to be but it's a great story if you are looking for providence in person.
