"Speechless!"
Wow! I cant make up my mind which one is better in the series now. The highlanders touch is especial though because in here, he not only worried about her, but he also did for her family. His love for her was so deep! I just loved it! And its prob one of those books that I will listen to again eventually. Just like BDB :)
"I still love the series!"
I dont' have much words to say as Im speechless....but I can say this, it's worth reading it! The story is enticing, keeps you tuned, not wanting to put it down :) I love how Jen Ash keeps bringing the other brothers in family reunions...because I hate reading a book with so many characteres, but down the road they just vanish from the story. Yes, she's telling the story of the one brother Lord Cameron, but all the other brothers and wives are still very active together... in my mind, just like a family is supposed to be! :)
And Angela keeps doing a good job with her narration....I did notice that at some parts when she's narrating a conversation between 2+ she differs the voices.... however, if she's narrating just one... she has a fave voice or something.... for both male and female. BUT, by no means it interferes with her performance....I'm just a very detailed person.. that's all....
All in all.... Im excited about reading the next one!
"My first 3 stars review for Moning"
Well...where shall I start?? Before getting the book, a lot of the reviews mentioned our dearest Mr. Gigante :) woooo.... yes! OMG! What is that? The voice he gave Adam Black! 'Nuff said here guys... LOL
I had a feeling that Moning was going to transform our blackest one into something... haha....which is ok, you know, all that story that love conquers all, love changes, bla bla bla....So, I was not resistant to his becoming a more romantic, less cold hearted guy, start to fall in love with some special girl. I was even ok with her not belonging to a career path that could benefit the story plot in one way or another... I did get repetitive with the twins's wives.
I did think it had a good story, though I confess that it could have been better, based on the level of the series, this one has come a little short. I didn't mind the reference to his "hard on" for quite a long part of the chapters... (mentioning this because I read quite a few reviews saying this disgusted them!), it was just part of the story, that's all.
I was sooo into the whole story that I actually made time to listen to it outside my commuting audiobook time (about 1 1/2 round trip to college everyday).... just to have that gooosh of disappointment fill my heart when I realized Moning was going to make him abdicate his "fairy" life and become human. THAT WAS MY DEAL BREAKER!And I finished the book, of course, I mean just a few minutes to the end....
In the epilogue, we learned that Adam Black was made mortal, however, still not supposed to have a soul (in fact, reason why he was made mortal, instead of Gaby made immortal, because the human immortal soul is incompatible with the immortal body. And Adam Black refused to take Gaby's soul away from her. He would rather live a happy human life (souless for him) and be forever soul-separate, since she has a soul and therefore, they would go to different places after they died. THEN WHAT THE HECK??? AT THE VERY END WE LEARN THAT THE IMMORTAL FAIRY MADE SOULESS HUMAN ALL FOR LOVE, HAD "GAINED" A SOUL!!!!! AND THEY WOULD LIVE HAPPY EVER AFTER, IMMORTALS FOR REAL (MAKING MENTION TO THE SOUL, AS THEY USED THE DRUIDS SOUL BINDING VOWS)...... If the story was gonna have this kind of twist, why not make her immortal, and then come up with something sparkling twisting the end like that???
But make Adam Black a simple human man?? Seriously?? Agh....that just didn't do for me! I'm giving 4 stars for the sake of the entire series, that is one of my fave along with BDB, 5 stars for GIGANTE :) and ..... I mean, my only problem was that Adam Black was too special to be made human, so only 3 stars for the story. Anyways.... Sorry bout the ranting yall.... lol
"What a series!"
I'm happy I found out the series and sad at the same time as one more book and I'm done reading the whole series :( The problem is I've fallen in love with it and I want more ;)
On the dark highlander Dageus breaks the promise to use magic of going back in time for his own benefit, which was to save his brother's life (Drustin). By doing that he is cursed into having 13 other very powerful and dark druid's souls inside him turning him dark as well (irreversible). But with Dageus resilitent personality he fights them inside of him and seeks a way to free himself. In the process he meets Chloe, so much happens, and they live happy ever after! LOL You didn't think I was going to tell the whole story did ya? hee hee
Anyways, I loved how the whole story developed, and I loved Dageus!
"I love it!"
Karen Moning's highlander series is just awesome! I love each more and more! And I'm not going to tell any of the story this time, but this series is way worth money and time :)
"I'm still loving the series!"
I've been reading all of them, well, listening to all of them hee hee... and I'm still in love with the series and Lora Leigh. It's my first series by her and I don't regret and came across this one by accident when searching for something else, and decided to check the reviews just as encouragement for buying it LOL
I just wish they had the whole series on audible because now that I came to a book where i have to read, it's slowed me down, as I usually don't have as much time as before nursing school started :(
Plz make all audible, plz, plz lol
Great read! I recommend it!
"* Sigh *"
I completely fell in love with Ian Mackenzie!!! If I close my eyes I can fully envision him with his flaws and all... and matter of fact his "problem" does add a lot of what I liked about his personality and charms! Oh well... call me crazy! LOL
I loved the story! Yes, it does sometimes happen too fast and maybe making no sense at all... but isn't it how life sometimes is.... I cannot say that everything whether good or bad that has ever happened in my life made absolute sense to me lol
Ian is probably going to be my fave of all the brothers :]
I recommend the reading/listening!
"Simply great!"
What can I say? I loved the first book, and now I love the second, and I'm looking foward to listening to the third book about this family. I think the story is so well written that I see myself really like an inside spactator LOL I also love how she always puts something going on, like on the first book was the murder, on the second one, was the guy pretending to be Mac. It just spices up the story. I also love how, even though, the male characters, at first seem to be "perfect" in that dreamy book way, they are not really. There's a not of emotional and psychological baggage going on for this family! And that puts a little of reality in it. At least that's my perception...
I recommend it! Especially if you enjoyed Ian Mackenzie... because they appear quite a lot on this one, and I can only hope they keep intertwining because I have a feeling he is going to be my all time fave of all the brothers :]
"I want more!!!"
Well, once again Moning swipe me off of my feet with one more of her love stories! Some might say, it's repetitive...the same thing over and over in all the books. However, isn't it how life is? Just a biggo routine! I loved how she intertwined the characters from the first one "Highland mist"; I loved how the heroine already had feelings for him, and no matter what, she was ready to have his back! And her love brough emotional healing to his turmoiled heart, even though, he's this huge mighty warrior, he succumbes to her :)
I read in some other review, that the reviewer didn't like the fact that she though Grimm and Hawke were supposed to be best friends... etc etc... and she didn't see this on the second book.
*spoilers* lol
They were/are best friends! The book starts with them together, and Grimm only leaves to go after Jillian. After all is set and done, Grimm, now accepting who and what he is, calling himself Gavriel, returns to Hawke's place to wed Jillian up there. IF THIS is NOT friendship then I don't know what is LOL Now, in the middle of the story, there's quite a few mention of this other lad (whom I can't recall the name now) who used to be Grimm's best friend when they were teens... like 15 years ago, before he fled his dad's lair.
Anyhow... great all in all! I recommend! And I can only hope that she will continue to cross her books and stories in the series :)
"*Sigh*"
I fell in love with Sebastian!!! Wonderful character! Great story with a lil action, and Petkoff... hee hee.... Petkoff is doing a great job! I just wish he does all the books, and matter of fact, I just wish other authors would start using him too, maybe some of us should suggest that.... lol
