The Great Decision tells the riveting story of Marshall and of the landmark court case, Marbury v. Madison, through which he empowered the Supreme Court and transformed the idea of the separation of powers into a working blueprint for our modern state.

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

Children have always disappeared under the right conditions - slipping through the shadows under a bed or at the back of a wardrobe, tumbling down rabbit holes and into old wells, and emerging somewhere...else. But magical lands have little need for used-up miracle children. Nancy tumbled once, but now she's back. The things she's experienced...they change a person. The children under Miss West's care understand all too well. And each of them is seeking a way back to their own fantasy world.

I hate stories where a characters "queerness" is thrown in your face and is the only triat that distinguishes the character. Seanan McGuire does not write those characters. She integrates gender expression into her characters without hanging out a neon sign that flashes, "Look, I'm writing about topical issues". I love her prose. I love her storytelling. Thanks for doing what you do.

Sometimes you just have to laugh, even when life is a Dumpster fire. With We Are Never Meeting in Real Life., "bitches gotta eat" blogger and comedian Samantha Irby turns the serio-comic essay into an art form.

This is the reality television of essay writing.

The author takes self deprecation to its extreme, so much so that it made me uncomfortable. I was looking for a companion to sit with me in my ivory tower (John Jeremiah Sullivan). Instead, I was pulled down to her painfully real version of modern day life, complete with spoken LOLs and emojis.

    This book almost killed me.

I am saying this as a nearly-rabid fan of Mindy Kaling, who exposes the worst of herself as well, but does so in a way I find inexplicably charming. Irby shows off her grossness in the same way Sarah Silverman does in Bedwetter, but Silverman is proud of who she is, and doesn't suck the reader into a self-shame party.

This book is too real for me, and I see too many of my own bad qualities in Irby. I don't hate you, Author. And I don't think you're "literally the worst". I think you tried to self-satirize, in an effort to show me that it's okay to be me. But the "I hate myself", completely naked approach was too much for me.

I got it. I just can't defend it.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the depth of character Ms Mock's voice brought to the performance. It was perfect.

    Any additional comments?

Anyone seeking to understand trans people better, especially trans women, needs to read this book. There isn't much literature available about trans women that doesn't fetishize or objectify them. Janet Mock is compelling, well spoken and insightful. I recommend this book, not just for trans women or people seeking to understand them, but anyone who has ever faced the struggle of not fitting in and reshaping their identity.
