The story begins in 1962. On a rocky patch of the sun-drenched Italian coastline, a young innkeeper, chest-deep in daydreams, looks out over the incandescent waters of the Ligurian Sea and spies an apparition: a tall, thin woman, a vision in white, approaching him on a boat. She is an actress, he soon learns, an American starlet, and she is dying. And the story begins again today, half a world away, when an elderly Italian man shows up on a movie studio's back lot - searching for the mysterious woman he last saw at his hotel decades earlier.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Highly recommend, much easier to listen to than to read.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Beautiful Ruins?

When De and Pasquale were about to be reunited after many years. I couldn't wait to hear the story.

Have you listened to any of Edoardo Ballerini’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes I wanted to but of course couldn't. I came back to it as often as I was able. Then I was sad that there wasn't more when it was over.

    Any additional comments?

Great audio, this book would easily get people hooked on audio books.

Nicola Marter was born with a gift. When she touches an object, she sometimes glimpses those who have owned it before. When a woman arrives with a small wooden carving at the gallery Nicola works at, she can see the object’s history and knows that it was named after the Firebird - the mythical creature from an old Russian fable. Compelled to know more, Nicola follows a young girl named Anna who leads her into the past on a quest through the glittering backdrops of the Jacobites and Russian courts, unearthing a tale of love, courage, and redemption.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I highly recommend. Not a book you can stop listening to easily.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Firebird?

When Anne is reunited with her loved ones and gift received from Katherine. Anne's attitude and strength are most impressive and motivating.

Have you listened to any of Katherine Kellgren’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, have not heard Katherine Kellgren's other performances. Not sure that the deep tones of Katherines voice is good for the story but I got past that after a couple of chapters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Adventures in another time.

A mysterious stranger known as 'The Wolf' leaves an infant with the sisters of Santo Spirito. A tiny silver key hidden in her wrappings is the only clue to the child's identity and so begins a story as intriguing and beautiful as the city of Florence itself. Belinda Alexandra's new novel, Tuscan Rose, is set in Italy during the time of Mussolini. This richly woven tale of passion, love, longing, witchcraft and magic promises to be everything her readers love and more.

She meets Euan, a famed writer and naturalist who lives in the cottage at the foot of the tower, where Jude's grandfather once lived.

What made the experience of listening to Down River the most enjoyable?

It was a book that both my husband and I were able to enjoy. Not girly-girly and not manly- manly, just right.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

We were traveling 10 hours from home one way, and we were able to listen to the 1st half on the way there and the second half on the way home. The only problem was that the MP3 lost its charge 3 chapters from the end of the book - my husband was horrified.
