"A worthy successor"
Yes! I joined Audible so that I would have something to listen to on my commute, but I've been listening to Days of Blood and Starlight every chance I get--not just in the car.
It's so great to be excited by a story again, and this series is pushing all my buttons. I just love it.
"I think I'm in love..."
Like pretty much all the characters in The Name of the Wind, I am enamored by Kvothe at the same time as I find him maddening. But imperfect characters are my favorite thing ever, so I'm really looking forward to continuing this series.
"My favorite fantasy series in quite a while"
The Kingkiller Chronicles has everything I want in an epic fantasy series: compelling but imperfect characters, adventures, and a surprising amount of humor. Unfortunately, it also has the one thing I don't like about epic fantasies: long waits between books. It's like not being able to talk to someone you love, with no end in sight...
"The best story I've read (hear) this year!"
At first, I wasn't sure about Khristine Hvam--Karou sounded a bit too much like Arial from the Little Mermaid--but I was soon impressed by how she slipped in and out of the different character's voices, and she won me over. The story, however, had me at hello. Daughter of Smoke and Bone is the best fantasy story I've heard (or read) this year. I'm so excited to hear the rest!
"Surprisingly awesome"
This is a hard one... maybe Bill Clinton.
I've never been much of a Rob Lowe fangirl, despite being the right age, but I did like him in Californication, and the reviews here were good, so I thought I would check it out, and I'm glad I did. As everyone said, his impersonations were spot on, but more importantly, Stories I Only Tell My Friends has heart. Rob was funny, smart, thoughtful, and also respectful and kind when it came to pretty much everyone he has worked with. What's not to like? He may have just won me over.
