In his most challenging journey to date, Palin tackles the Himalayas, the greatest mountain range on earth. It is a virtually unbroken wall of rock stretching 1,800 miles from the borders of Afghanistan to south-west China. Penetrated but never conquered, it remains the world's most majestic natural barrier, a magnificent wilderness that shapes the history and politics of Asia to this day.

    "Adventure at it's Best"
    Overall

This is just a wonderful travel story. I listen in the car on my daily commute to work and listening to this tale helps make driving a breeze. The descriptions are vivid and the author's British humor is delightful. Audio quality is great and having the author actually narrating his own book adds a touch another reader could never have. The Himalaya region is a vast, diverse, and exremely fascinating area of our globe and this book helps to make you feel that you are along on the adventure with the author. I highly recommend it.

Looking for Alaska is Peter's account of eighteen months spent traveling over twenty thousand miles in tiny bush planes, on snow machines and snowshoes, in fishing boats and kayaks, on the Alaska Marine Highway and the Haul Road. Hearing and living the amazing stories of many Alaskans from Barrow to Craig, Seward to Deering, and everywhere in between, Peter gets to know this place in a way that only he can.

    "A Great Winter Listen"
    Overall

Been to the great state of Alaska or planning to go ? Then you will definitely enjoy this audio book. Peter Jenkins lives in Alaska for two years and experiences a vast cross section of this unique state's people and history. From dog sleding to salmon fishing to flying to remote islands by bush plane Peter experienced the real Alaska not seen by cruise ship tourists. This audio book is also narrated by Peter and he does a great job ! There are also vivid recorded sounds from Alaska and some real dialog by characters that Peter met as well as his wife and daughter. An excellent tale well done.

"Feels Like You are Right Along"
    Overall

This is a tale of a voyage around the world. You know the type of voyage all travelers would like to make, but never seem to have the time to take. Travel along on this voyage and for fleeting instants you will feel like you are along on the voyage. The descriptions of the long sea voyages are particularly lucid and the character description is excellent. You will find this audio book a very good listen

Every time Bill Bryson walks out the door, memorable travel literature threatens to break out. His previous excursion on the Appalachian Trail resulted in the best seller A Walk in the Woods. Now, we follow him "Down Under" to Australia with this delectably funny, fact-filled, and adventurous performance that combines humor, wonder, and unflagging curiosity. More from Bill Bryson.

    Overall

This is a wonderful trip around the fascinating country of Australia. The author presents a great mix of things he observed and experienced during his travels in the land down under as well as presenting interesting history and background information. This is a very well written, entertaining and informative book and the narrator is clear and concise and does a fine job with a tinge of humor throughout. As you start to listen you will quickly learn how little we in the USA actually know about the country and island continent of Australia.
