"Summer doldrums"
I found this book to be a bit tedious. The writing is good with very nice descriptions of setting, but it never seemed to be going anywhere. I found myself wishing that I had used my precious credit for something better.
"A Watched Teapot Never Boils"
Put on your patience pants for this one. It is a wonderful saga of tenacity, travel, multi-cultural communications, and wisdom. The narrator is just hard to listen to, unfortunately. His reading is strident and unnecesarily breathless, but I have to give him credit for his knowledge and use of local accents. I was ready to give up until about 2/3 through the first CD, when it finally got interesting. I went back online to read another review just to remind myself why I chose it. In the end, it is worth the time it takes to listen, but I can think of several other narrators who would have kept me interested from the first page.
