  • Freakonomics: Revised Edition

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 55 mins)

Steven D. Levitt is not a typical economist. He is a much-heralded scholar who studies the riddles of everyday life, from cheating and crime to sports and child-rearing, and whose conclusions turn the conventional wisdom on its head. Thus the new field of study contained in this audiobook: Freakonomics. Levitt and co-author Stephen J. Dubner show that economics is, at root, the study of incentives: how people get what they want, or need, especially when other people want or need the same thing.

    The good.
There were a few very original thoughts in this book, lots of interesting statistics.

    The bad.
Copy and paste of the same information as many as 5 times throughout the audio book is just plain annoying. I kept checking to make sure that I hadn't changed chapters by accident.

It was almost as if the book needed a minimum number of words and they had to fill it.

    Conclusion:
Like the idea, but expected more in terms of original thoughts.

  • The Dark Tower: The Dark Tower VII

    • UNABRIDGED (28 hrs and 10 mins)

All good things must come to an end, Constant Listener, and not even Stephen King can write a story that goes on forever. The tale of Roland Deschain's relentless quest for the Dark Tower has, the author fears, sorely tried the patience of those who have followed it from its earliest chapters. But attend to it a while longer, if it pleases you, for this volume is the last, and often the last things are best.

"Wow... My first experience with Stephen King"
    Overall

After a hundred hours of listening... Wow. Great story.

I wish I didn't listen to the ending for Roland... King warned me not to!

    Kudos and thanks.
