When Shelly Brockman walked into his office, Sheriff Dare Westmoreland could almost taste the sweet, steamy passion they'd once shared. Then Shelly informed him he was the father of her son, the unruly preteen he'd arrested that day, and his fantasies turned to fury!

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

It wasn't for me. I enjoy a story with a bit more character development. This story was someone looking for a little light reading. I found my mind drifting.

Would you ever listen to anything by Brenda Jackson again?

I don't know. This just isn't my type of story.

Would you be willing to try another one of Madison Vaughn’s performances?

I would give her another try. She didn't have a whole lot to work with. And even though a worman was reading somehow the character of Dare was the strongest.

What character would you cut from A Little Dare?

I don't know if I would cut a particular character. It just needed a stronger story and the characters it did have more fleshed out.

    Any additional comments?

This book was on my wish list for almost a year. And I just never managed to get it using one of my Credits. Well, when I saw it on the $4.95 Special, I thought I was in luck...I'm just glad I spent only $4.95 for it. I don't feel so bad.

Freddy Thresher has a problem: a really, really, big problem. He's the only one in his class who hasn't lost a tooth! All of the other students in Mrs. Wushy's first grade have signed their names on the Big Tooth, and Freddy's determined to get his name on it, too. So when Max "The Meanie" Sellars calls Freddy a baby, Freddy decides he's going to lose that tooth one way or another, even if it means getting punched in the face at recess, and even bigger trouble, with Mom!

What did you love best about Ready, Freddy?

Sweet, funny, nothing offensive. Ready Freddy came right one time for my son's first tooth! This story made it easier for him to process the event.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Freddy, of course!

What does Oliver Wyman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Oliver lends the character lots of personality.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nothing extreme. Just lots of laughs.

    Any additional comments?

Ready Freddy is a family favorite!

My 9 year old loves it, and so did I! Jiggy comes off a bit snarky. Which kept me from giving it 5 stars. He's just slightly disrespectful, something I wouldn't necessarily want my son to emulate. Also, some of the jokes went over his head. But that's ok. Overall it was a funny, and adventurous story.

I actually read this story twice. For some reason, I didn't really care for it the first time. I didn't like the stereotypical set-up of the 2 wives.
Ayana Blue come off as too perfect and proper. and Yasmine, the Ex-wife come off as
koo-koo crazy! Their personalities were really off-putting.
But, on the second reading, i got more into the story. Which was quite good. Lots of good twists. Good ending, worth the re-read.

    Story

This story reads like one of those "true crime" episodes on tv.
Sad-sack Charlie Rowan's life has always been on the "dead-end" track. He's a cage-fighter that fights for free, he owes some small time drug dealers some cash. So he decides to make the dash by playing dead. Only problem is, he doesn't leave the very small town in which he resides. To earn some cash to "maybe" leave town, Short-sighted Charlie decides to hold up a gun store.
It kind of goes down hill from there. Sort of a "how not to live your life " story. A bit dry in it's set up and delivery. But pretty good story.

First of all, Thank you Audible, for giving us this opportunity! Had this not been in the "freebies" list I might have overlooked this GREAT opening episode
This was a really good first run. Individuals across the country wake up to a seemingly empty world, The story is very much in the style of Stephen King. The author really fleshed out his characters, which to me is very important to a story. There's even a serial killer! Anyway, the big mystery is, of course, What happened. Is it an alien invasion? Some strange world war? Or what?
I know its not an original concept, but thus far, it's a really good story! I look forward to part 2.

Would you try another book from Laurann Dohner and/or Vanessa Chambers?

NO. Not if any of them are like this one.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I don't know, maybe something that has DIALOG.

How could the performance have been better?

Anything would be better. This "You Jane, Me Tarzan' thing is NOT for me. And some female readers do a good job with male voices, this isn't one of them.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    Ummmm, NO

    Any additional comments?

This was mostly my fault. I came into this knowing that this is not my usual forte. But I wanted some light reading. After scanning the reviews, and hearing that this was better than the previous books, I decided to give it a try. Wow, I'd hate to read the other books!

To impress her boss, Linda Rogers eagerly volunteers to take in a foster child for the holiday season. She's well-organized in and outside the office; the addition of a child? A simple matter of blocking out the hours in her day planner and laying in a few supplies. Never mind that she's single. Never mind that she's never cared to have a lasting relationship or build a family. Housing seven-year-old Lucy Green for Christmas is simply to boost Linda up the next career step, nothing more.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Oh, Yes. This was a book I picked up on a whim, as a trade for another that didn't quite fit. I'm glad I did. The author actually did her research on a subject, foster care, that I don't know much about. You always hear these dramatic, horrible stories about greedy foster parents or out of control, throw-away children. But she made it real, Potential parents who have holes in there lives and children who need a safe place and someone who cares

What did you like best about this story?

There was a lot to like. So informative. And like I said, realistic people. The main character, Linda, is a single, super-organised ambitious person. She keeps everyone at arms length. To impress her boss, she volunteers for a short-term fostering program that he sponsors. The story takes you through the Process. The classes, the security checks, home inspection, etc. The reader, along with everyone in the story, expects her to withdraw. She doesn't even have a pet! She's constantly reminded of the disruption having a child, although a temporary, one would cause to her life.Admirably, she sticks to it. And even grows to anticipate the addition. When she finally meet Lucy, the child, she see alot of herself in her. Withdrawn, shy, damaged. Through the whole process she grows. She has to face some serious demons.

What does Ilyana Kadushin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She did a great job representing both adults and children.

    Any additional comments?

Sorry to give so much away. But with this story it's not what was said, it's how it was dealt with. The author kept it "real" and informative too. It was touching without being heavy-handed. I will definitely be reading more form her.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Not a thing. a delightful read.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The most interesting thing was the VERY modern view the author took on the time. The way it dealt with women in the church and homosexuality.

Which character – as performed by Stephanie Daniel – was your favorite?

I think it would be Phryne. She has strength, beauty, charm and cash to back it up.

Could you see Unnatural Habits being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Hum. A mini-series would be interesting.

    Any additional comments?

I think this series is worth exploring.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This was a good story, but not for me. It was like a boy's grown-up fantasy. Regular guy gets to fight monsters AND get the girl.

What could Larry Correia have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Um, nothing really. There's a lot of muscle flexing and weaponry. Not really a "girl's story" It had some fun moments, but.....

Which character – as performed by Oliver Wyman – was your favorite?

The main character was pretty cool. Very "aw shucks" type, and kinda sexy, in an understated way.

Did Monster Hunter International inspire you to do anything?

Yes, get a "chic-lit" book. haha

This was a good story, for the right audience. Lots of action, monsters and fun!!!
