I don't know whether Baldacci wrote this novel as a tongue in cheek homage to Lee Child's Reacher series, or whether he intended to what is otherwise a blatant ripoff of Child's bestselling series. I am a long-time devotee of Jack Reacher's adventurers and there were times when I found it hard to remember I was not reading about a younger version of Reacher before he left the Army.

I love Peter Hamilton's books, and I have gobbled up the previous audio renditions with great gusto. But this is possibly the worse audio book of the century. The sound quality is beyond bad and the enactment with multiple voices doesn't work -- primarily because the actors are so bad. I won't comment on the story because the other stuff was so terrible I couldn't pay attention to anything else. Do not buy this audio. Audible should take it off the shelf.
