The characters are delightful. The story line is intriguing. The setting is exotic.
The performance, the plot...all good.
Rameses. Such a nice mixture of shy and outrageous.
Absolutely. Had a difficult time not doing so!
The story told from different characters, including the dog, made the plot unfold in an interesting and engaging way.
Rather not give away the plot!
Several where the relationship between the man and dog developed into love. Sweet.
A really good listen!
Lofty philosophical dialogs were not engaging, somewhat pretentious.
A better story line with more diverse action.
Narrator was good.
Condensing much of the tedious and long winded passages would help.
The main character is cheeky but appealing with his quirky sense of humor.
It isn't predictable, yet it is still believable.
A job well done.
The sweetness of the relationship developed along the way.
More of a plot and more interesting characters.
The narrator is good, but she has little to work with on this one.
Rambling dialog left me wondering why I bothered listening till the end. The villain is so poorly developed that the plot does not hold together. Waste of time.
The plot was not well developed, predictable. For Detective Cross to try to solve a crime without any cultural knowledge seems ridiculous. More interest in the plight of Africans without any new insights than telling a good story.
While the story is fun, the narration was annoying. The voice was so unpleasant that the characters became unattractive, especially "Deano".
The good guys were a little too good, and the bad guys a little too bad. I agree with the earlier review comments that the bad guys were unbelievably superhuman, supposedly for effect. At one point, I found myself saying, "just shoot the guy and get this over". Why would the hero shoot the bodyguards without hesitation yet babble on and let the really bad guy get away?
I also found the dialogue was a bit smarmy with the love interests.
The details were belaboured, the graphic descriptions unnecessary and gross, and the reader had such a breathing problem that after the first half of this book I fast forwarded to the end just to get through it. The main character was not likeable. Supposedly smart, she continued to do stupid things that actually annoyed me rather than entertained. Some of the plot was so predictable, particularly with her best friend.
This was a waste of money.
