"Loved it!"
Yes. Definitely.
I listened to this book during a break in the new Doctor Who episodes, so it was a very nice Doctor Who fix for me.
It's so much better to hear River's voice than to just read it for yourself.
There's a part in the book where she makes a comment about her name, (I don't want to give the exact quote) but I was cracking up laughing. I really enjoyed the whole book, but that part really stood out to me.
Let me just say, that I LOVE River. She may be my favorite TV character of all time. (aside from the Doctor, of course) So, basically, I had no choice but to love this book. It was sassy and funny and just very River. As much as I enjoy watching episodes with her in them, it was so much fun being inside her head. It was just perfect. Oh, and the fact that it was narrated by Alex Kingston of course made it that much better. :)
"Quick, Sweet, & Funny"
I have not listened to any other performances by this narrator, but i think she fit Hadley's personality well and did a good job.
The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight was such a cute, heartwarming story! Hadley is headed to London for her father's wedding, and nothing goes the way she expects starting with missing her flight. Basically, the whole day ends up a series of lessons for Hadley that she really needed to learn. While the book was fairly predictable, it was alsoreally sweet and charming. Oliver had such a sweet personality and a great sense of humor. His and Hadley's chemistry was great.
Overall it was a really quick fun listen. I think the author captured a lot of the feelings a teenage girl facing her parent's divorce / new lives apart would be experiencing. It was perfect for a rainy day and well worth the credit.
"Smart Characters, and"
Near the top.
She does an excellent job with them all, but I especially loved America.
I downloaded this book because of the cover. (I didn't even know what the book was about when I bought it.) I'm so glad I did: I loved it!
A word of warning, it does cut off very suddenly, but I thought it was a great start to a series! It felt basically like a mixture of Hunger Games and the Bachelor. (More towards the Bachelor end, though) It was a lighter read, but it seems like it might become more deep and intriguing in the sequels.
There were parts where I just couldn't stop smiling. The chemistry between America and Maxon was so good. They're one of my new favorite fictional couples. I liked Aspen too, but I loved Maxon!!!
I really can't wait to read the next book.
"Love it!"
As a HUGE fan of The Office, I was super excited to read this book. I already had the eBook when I saw that Mindy Kaling had actually narrated the audiobook version herself. (so cool! Lol) Anyway, it was exactly what I had expected it to be. Super funny and honest-feeling. It was also smart with some awesome references!
"I love Charley Davidson!!!"
Pretty much everything.
The beginning chapters where Charley is sleep deprived.
So much! Lorelei King is one of my top two favorite narrators. She does an excellent job!
Yes, it definitely had me laughing! I don't know that I've ever laughed harder while reading (listening to) a book.
I've said it before, but I'll say it again: I LOVE this series!! I just can't get enough of Charley & company. In the beginning of this book, Charley is almost delirious from not sleeping for almost two weeks straight, and I have to say that it was maybe my favorite piece of fiction ever. It was brilliant!! I laughed and laughed. I just love Darynda Jones' style of writing. I love the way Charley thinks. I'm a huge fan of the Stephanie Plum series, but I have to say that I love this one even more.
The cast of characters is just amazing! I love every one of them. I can't wait to see where this series goes from here. I'm so sad for Garrett. I feel so bad for Charley, and I'm frustrated with Reyes. (he better step it up) I definitely hope things start looking up for Charley and I can't wait to learn more about "what she's capable of."
Oh, and the mystery was slightly predictable, but that's never the main draw for me when it comes to these types of books.
"Very Interesting Dystopian!"
Of the (many) recent dystopias I have recently read, Legend is definitely one of my favorites. The only one I can remember liking better is Divergent. I found it really difficult to put this one down. I liked the characters a lot; June and Day were so much fun and I really felt for both of them and hated the situations they were thrown into. I liked the romance and the athletic elements of the story. A cool story.
"New Favorite!"
Yes! The story was excellent!
I can't even describe how much I loved this book!!! It was just amazing! This is the second zombie book I've ever read, and I'm extremely surprised to have loved them both. This one however may be my new favorite book. This was also my first foray into the steampunk genre, and I think I'm going to be a fan.
I loved every one of the characters; I loved the mix of old-fashioned propriety and super advanced technology; I loved the science behind everything; I loved the humor; I loved the dialogue; I loved the emotion; I LOVED BRAM!! It was just. so. good.
The romance was sweet and sexy, and all of the other relationships were wonderful as well. Like all books, it was slightly predictable in a few spots, but I didn't mind at all. Awesome story!
Based on the ending, I'm sure there will be a sequel. I can't wait to read it! The narrators were amazing. I think each of them captured their characters perfectly. I'm actually thinking about going out and buying a hard copy just so I can have it on my shelf. Definitely one of my top 2 favorite books if not my number 1. I will read everything Lia Habel writes. :)
"Incredible!"
I've never read anything remotely similar.
R
It definitely had me laughing!
I loved this book!! My most unique read so far, I'd say. I loved R's mind and thinking process. He was so sweet. Isaac Marion did an excellent job. I loved hearing his progression throughout the book.
This was my first Zombie book, so I can't compare it to others. However, I never thought I'd like a book about zombies let alone love one. In my opinion, the ending was just a tad bit weak.
I wholeheartedly recommend listening to this book rather than reading the print edition. The narrator was incredible. You could tell he put a lot of hard work into reading it. I'm sure it wouldn't have been quite the same reading it for myself. Anyways, awesome!
"Hmm..."
Honestly, I'm not sure.
No.
Ok, so this is like my fifth time trying to type up a review for City of Fallen Angels (so frustrated with my computer), so that might have a little bit to do with the negativity of this review. (Not all of it though)
I was not impressed with this book. It was so full of drama. Stupid drama. If two people love each other as much as Clary and Jace claim to, they don't keep stupid secrets because they think the other person won't understand. They say they believe in each other, but won't even consider that the other won't judge them based on stupid things. Like, "I'm having bad dreams, and I just can't tell Clary because it'll prove to her that I'm a bad person. So, instead, I'll treat her like dirt and ignore her." Stupid drama. I hate when a book uses alternating perspectives just to make up misunderstandings that wouldn't have been there anyway.
I'll be the first to admit that brooding can be super hot in a guy. (think Angel in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. sigh.) However, it just doesn't look good on Jace. Neither does whinyness. It probably wouldn't have been so bad had I not had to read from his perspective.
Another negative: not very much Luke. Luke became one of my favorite characters in the last book, and I was hoping to see more of him.
It also frustrates me when it seems like the author just keeps thinking, "How could I make these miserable people even more and more miserable?" "Ok, I'll write that." And it doesn't seem like that's going to end any time soon based on the ending of Fallen Angels.
Overall, I think this one burnt me out on the primary characters' storyline. However, I found the secondary characters' stories to be relatively intriguing. Simon keeps getting more and more interesting. His concerns and worries are actually legitimate, and I found myself pulled into his story. I liked Maya and Isabel more in this book too. If it weren't for Simon, I don't think I would even consider picking up the next book. (And this would have gotten a 1 star rating.)
I see all the 4 and 5 star reviews on Amazon, and I wonder if maybe I just zoned out and missed the good parts. End rant.
"Wow! Just Wow!"
Honestly, I didn't want to read this book. Nazi Germany has never been a subject of great interest to me. However, It had been sitting around in my Audible app for about 6 months, and I'd listened to all of my other audiobooks, so I figured now was as good of a time as any to give it a shot.
Let me just say that The Book Thief broke my heart. It really did. The writing was beautiful and brilliant. Not long after starting it, I found myself absorbed by the story. I couldn't stop thinking about Liesel Meminger. I think the moment I knew I was going to love this book was when she described her new papa's eyes. Their relationship was by far my favorite aspect of the book.
The author actually gives the ending away before he describes the events leading up to it. At first, I thought that this was going to bother me, but It's just made the book more powerful. This book made me FEEL so much. I felt it when Liesel was scared, ecstatically happy, unbelievably sad, blazingly angry, and I felt it when she loved fiercely. It was definitely her love that broke my heart. I cried for the last 20 minutes of the audiobook. I'd fought tears a few times throughout the book, but there was no stopping them by the end. This was such a touching book that I would definitely recommend. (Also, I'm glad I listened to this book rather than read it because I wouldn't have known how to pronounce many of the words.)
