"Infuriating!"
This book was appalling! Iris Johansen has been a favorite of mine for years, but this book was disappointing. The male character is more like a stalker. The main character is put off by his threatening, controlling behavior, but the next minute she is swooning in his arms. There is nothing appealing about the guy's attitude. She should running to the police to get a restraining order, at the very least. And I'm not a person that minds a little rough and tumble play. I only got a little farther than halfway through the book before I couldn't stand to listen to it anymore.
"Great Humor!"
I put off buying this book for a while because I wasn't convinced I would like it, but boy, was I wrong! I loved the dry, sarcastic humor of the book!
"Not Impressed"
I liked the idea of the storyline but the book itself was too drawn out. I almost stopped listening to it altogether because I was getting bored. This is surprising because I've like Sandra Brown's other books. The only good thing about the story was that there were so many possible murderers I couldn't figure out who did it until the end.
"Great story, good narration"
I didn't think this book would be my cup of tea because I don't usually read books with magic and such. I downloaded it because it had such great reviews, and they were correct. I really enjoyed it.
"Great narration for a good book."
Sarah Coomes's narration was excellent. A good book can be ruined by a bad narrator, but thankfully, this was not the case.
"Good Story, Wimpy Voice"
The narrator made the main character sound like a whiny, weak woman. Yes, the woman is going through a difficult time in her life, but I think the narrator interpretation of her was beyond that. Although I'm sure blame partly lies with the author, but I've actually read (not listened) to a few of Sharon Sala's other books and have not noticed anything similar.
