"Immature, Trite Read"
A long novel that does not lead far...just trickles on without any large waves of plot to pull you deeper. Immature characters do nothing surprising...Predictable and not a little boring. A book best suited for YOUNG adults. Please no 2nd novel...
"Not up to par for this author"
The stories in this book are from the 1970's, the author wrote them but did not publish them until recently. Very slow & loaded with unimportant details. The narrator voices the individual characters very well. Unfortunately, I've listened to two other books in this series, her voice has become repetitive. Overall I would not recommend this Ann Rule Book, not nearly as good as her other novels.
"Boring"
Skip this one. Yes it is well written & considered a classic but that doesn't make it an interesting read. I usually finish a book in 4 days, this one took 2 weeks. Choose another.
"slow, dull and boring"
Boring. I recognize good writing, but this story lacked something. I could not bring myself to care about the characters. When I wasn't listening I did not reflect upon the story or characters. I had five hours left to complete this novel and I could not finish it.
Disappointing because others had rated this novel so highly. I would not recommend this book nor will I listen to future books by Julie Orringer.
"Slow and dull"
A disappointing listen. Very slow and uneventful. I enjoyed the authors novel Fingersmith but this book is incomparable. I do not recommend it.
"Blah, blah, blah"
This author wants things both ways. One example, Casey pretended to go to work for two years taking Caylee to a pretend nanny keeping Caylee safe from possible molestation by Caylee's grandfather. Yet on the day Caylee was murdered Casey was on the computer leaving Caylee to be looked after by her (possible molesting) grandfather?!? Huh? So many incidents like this in the novel, frustrating to listen to these and the constant conspiracy theories. More to this story but this novel is much too biased. Would not recommend this one.
"Harbor goes down the drain"
Boring and slow, a huge disappointment. Let Me In is written by this author as well and I Ioved it. This book brings none of the excitement, intrigue or interest I was sure would be there. Not worth taking a chance on this one.
"Interesting Jump"
A typical Martina Cole novel. Repetitive in places, intriguing, but not a best seller.
Overall an average listen, good narration.
"Didn't hold my interest"
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, The Passage. This book does not have the excitement of the first and is more than a little disappointing. At times I was very drawn in but then the book would turn in another direction or go into boring detail. Sometimes I'd find chapters had gone by without me hearing them.
Mediocre.
"easy light listen"
an average historical, novel, narrator is alright. I'd recommend this book if you are doing something that will require half a listening ear.
